About the adventure

You have Awakened. For a brief moment you held the might of a god and the world crumbled around you. Unseen forces noticed, and showed you the pathway to regain and fully attain that power. Hidden in the city of London, the last remnants of an ancient order of mages have gathered, ready to teach you their secrets. It will not be easy though, the path of Hermes is a hard one, requiring discipline and self-mastery. The hazards are many, but the magical rewards of power and wisdom is ever enticing. But that is not the only challenge ahead. There are those who see your very existence as a threat to the world order, and other dark forces that would seek to corrupt and exploit the potential you now hold. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This Chronicle is designed for starting-level players with a focus on a singular faction; The Order of Hermes. The Order is a faction of wizards that follow the ancient tradition of ritual magic. Wands, sigils, pointy hats, all that good stuff. They are also the masters of elemental magic; fire, lightening wind, the mighty forces of nature. It is ideal for for those new to M:TA and makes learning parts of the magic system milestones for character development. As an apprentice mage you begin with only enough magic to effect your perceptions, but that alone will bring you into an entirely new world filled with mysteries and monsters that you can take part in. About me

Hello! My name is Lucas. I love hosting bizarre and brilliant adventures and seeing players' characters and ideas come to life! My main motivation is to learn more about the characters my players create, thus I always aim to give them situations and challenges that explore the character's values, as well as make their decisions lasting and impactful. I particularly enjoying hosting Mage: The Ascension because it allows players to explore esoteric themes as well as reality-warping madness. if you're in the mood for something more lighthearted, I also greatly enjoy using the D100-LITE system in Covert Ops for gun-blasting espionage adventures. I do not allow for the use of AI-generated assets in my games. Note: Nazis, racists, sexists, transphobes, homophobes, and other bigots are explicitly prohibited from playing, reading, watching, or enjoying my games. What Lucas brings to the table

With this Chronicle in particular, my aim is to fully immerse the player into world as an apprentice. Rules are tweaked as to make magic more fun and make roleplaying a key aspect. My motivation as a GM is to learn about the characters my players create, and so I make sure to provide challenges and situations allow for the exploration of characters' convictions, beliefs, and bonds. From the above you can make out that I value roleplaying very much, and thus I value atmosphere to facilitate that, with use of ambient music.

Homebrew rules

As players begin with low Arete ratings, the consequences for failing magic are generally lessened, focusing on a "failing upward" mentality.

How Lucas creates a safe table

In my pre-game 1-on-1 sessions I host with players, I introduce them to my Lines and Veils to know beforehand what will be appropriate for my players. I also use digital safety cards on Foundry with which players can anonymously use should they feel uncomfortable or want to stop. I also use breaks every 1:30 hours and a short post-game debriefing to check in on players and make sure they are having fun.
