About the adventure

These games are all for beginners and up! I am excited to show you what I know in many systems such as Monster of the Week, Dungeon World, Call of Cthulu, and more! I also enjoy learning specialized games like The Witcher, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Alien. The theme doesn't always matter to me but your enjoyment does! It is best to feel somewhat comfortable with roleplay so that the story and characters have some more depth but mechanics, like the tools and rules from a game, will also help. I will gladly teach you the game and am always happy to advise a new player of their options.

About me

Hello one and all! Welcome! I have been a Game Master since I was shown ttrpgs. What I've been told sets me apart as a GM is my balance between creativity, planning, and in-game "improv" or alternate storytelling. I love mixing up genres, providing a spin to what people regularly expect, and making sure each player/character gets a moment to shine. If you or others you know would like to try an rpg I have not listed, experienced as a player, or have GMed before, please still reach out! I would like to hear what you're interested in and would enjoy expanding my repertoire!

Character creation

Creating your character

You will be making characters with me and your fellow party members in a session zero or the start of a session. Everyone will start in the beginning levels based on the game system being played. Specifics will be provided per listing.

The current party

There is an abundance of playbooks for MOTW as more have been added into updated forms of the core rule book and new expansions published. We will only be using the original 12: Chosen, Crooked, Divine, Expert, Flake, Initiate, Monstrous, Mundane, Professional, Spell-Slinger, Spooky, and Wronged. Character creation will be at the start of our session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have a Discord account. We will be using that primarily once sign ups have completed and StartPlaying messages have been sent. I have a server prepared and will get you that link afterwards. Other than that, I may have a pre-drawn map or photos to help shape the descriptions I provide.

What ripp brings to the table

I am a GM would likes a good story. While I follow the rules fairly closely, I allow Rule of Cool. In other words, if you have a great idea that doesn't break the game you'll probably be able to do it! While I tend to not have ambient music during game, I will always have recommendations. I do, however, try character voices as often as I can. I am always worried about following stereotypes and try my best to break those barriers while being respectful.

Homebrew rules

The only homebrew (besides story creation in my non-intro listings) I tend to do is combat balancing. I always check a system first and will make comments on it to my players. I want everyone to feel like they are actually having some decent combat and enjoy the triumph for their characters and fellow players. This also helps me as a GM have a bit more Big Bad actions to provide depth.

Safety

How ripp creates a safe table

I always ask people about their boundaries MULTIPLE times. This happens privately during the beginning to sign up, again once you enter the server, and then again at a session zero (if applicable). In addition, if I am worried about some upcoming content I will let the group know or alter my words to make sure the topic is present but not all encompassing. I recently have been using a yes/no list as well to help these short duration games thrive. There are breaks during my games and my private messages are ALWAYS open for a player to come to me.
