About the adventure
Welcome to Faerun! This is a darker version of Faerun than some other modules, as the death curse has left adventurers with no way to resurrect after an accidental death. The Chultan jungles are hot and dangerous, and there are many factions working to control the island and the riches purportedly hidden there. This is a beginner-friendly game, although the campaign can be a little bit unforgiving because of the lack of resurrection. Come to the game expecting to play (a) character(s) that you're not especially attached to, as they may very reasonably permanently die. My table is LGTQIA+ friendly and leveraged Red-Yellow-Green safety tools as well as a survey of red-line topics ahead of Session 0. We will have post-session check-ins for the purposes of safety and comfort after each session.

About me
Hi there! I'm excited you're here, and I hope we get to tell some stories together. I love being a TTRPG game master because it affords me the opportunity to be creative with others in a way that other pastimes just don't measure up to. I'm an engaging roleplayer and storyteller, and I will make your experience at my table as safe and fun as I possibly can. Come join me!

Creating your character
We will handle character creation together during the free Session 0. Please come to that session with a character concept, but be flexible so the group can build a coherent party.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please create a free Roll20 and Discord account. I will provide links to the game and the Discord chat where we will be talking in a follow-up email.
What The Frog (Matthew) brings to the table
At my table, expect robust storytelling that involves player characters. D&D is a collaborative storytelling activity, so I will push for active participation from everyone at the table. I infuse NPCs with personality and try to use them in a manner that has an overall impact on the story as a whole. Side quests affect the main story, and the progress of the main story affects available side quests. The world is dynamic and evolves over the course of the campaign. The campaign focuses on the challenges associated with permanent death in an inhospitable environment. By its nature, combats are challenging and dangerous, and players should expect to need to play tactically and work together as a team. This is one of my favorite modules to run - each time I run it, it proceeds very differently. I'm extremely familiar with it, and I am confident you'll enjoy exploring this module at my table.
