About the adventure
Blackwind Crossing was supposed to be a quick stop, but you’ve been stuck here for a week. You are an adventurer, explorer, or traveler and your caravan stopped in Blackwind for a night of rest and relaxation, before the final leg of your journey. When morning came, you were met by a dense and unnatural fog that crept into this world from somewhere quite wrong. No one who has journeyed into the fog's deepest parts has returned. In an effort to ease the increasingly tense situation, the head of the local militia has begun deputizing some of the more capable hands amongst the locals and travelers to help around town until something can be done about the fog. That's where you come in. You have been deputized as a temporary member of the Blackwind Militia and out of all of the problems the locals are having, you've been tasked with helping find a farmer's cow. ----------- Scenario Summary ----------- The Feeding Of An Angel is a 1st level eldritch horror mystery that takes place in a homebrew, dark fantasy world with plenty of empty space for you to create something new and fascinating within. You'll be creating characters who are eager to be anywhere else but where they've found themselves trapped. Are you: • Late to board the ship sailing for your true home? • Returning to you mentor after accomplishing a secret task? • On the run from persistent hunters who may now have you cornered? Regardless of what you may have been hoping to do you're stuck here now and have been burdened with the deceptively mundane task of finding a farmer's prized prized bull. We will have a Session 0 where we will create characters and go over rules and safety together. Completing the adventure should take about 3-4 sessions. ----------- Tales of the Valiant ----------- Tales of the Valiant (ToV) is an action-oriented roleplaying game that pits a group of heroic adventurers against supernatural dangers. One player, called the game master , along with a group of other players, who adopt roles as player characters, explore fantastic locations and embark on adventurous quests. If you know games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder then it will feel very familiar. In fact, Tales of the Valiant is compatible with D&D 5e (2014). What ToV brings to the table is a more modern spin of 5e. 🐲All classes have been reimagined and rebalanced (Rangers and Warlocks rejoice!) 🧙🏽♀️3 New Classes: the Vanguard, the Theurge, and the Witch 🌟Luck: Failing forward mechanic that gives future bonuses to keep game momentum 💀Doom: GM resource to complicate situations 🏯 Downtime & Base Building Mechanics

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey there! I'm Kendrick or Kendo, whichever you prefer, and I want to be your Game Master! Quick things you should know about me: I'm a 30 year-old, queer, neurodivergent, black nerd who's been playing TTRPGs since 2012. I love body horror, political intrigue, improv comedy, mecha anime, and the weird places where fantasy and sci-fi meet. I started my foray into TTRPGs playing D&D 4e in high school when a friend of mine got me into watching the Counter Monkey series on The Spoony Experiment. Hearing him recount tales of friends and strangers coming together to tell the wildest stories possible always made my heart race as I yearned to do the same. Now I can. Nowadays, I primarily run lots of non-D&D-esque TTRPGs like Monster Hearts 2, Rapscallion, and Kids on Bikes. Though I prefer using Tales of the Valiant or Chasing Adventure for my heroic fantasies, I still love getting down and dirty with D&D 5e. I'm mostly known for being on the marketing team for Kobold Press and as the creator and GM of the queer-horror actual play podcast, Tales Yet Told. If you want to get a sense of how I run things, you should check it out. https://www.TalesYetTold.com

Creating your character
Character creation will be done together during session 0 as I walk you through using Shard Tabletop. We will be creating characters at level 1 using the rules from Tales of the Valiant. If you're know D&D 5e or 5.5e these rules will feel familiar with some key differences that I think enhance the classic experience. Don't worry about having any of the books, I will provide them for you.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a working computer/phone, microphone, headphones, and a stable internet connection. You will need an active Discord account to join the server to join session calls and gain access to links and documents. Lastly you'll need an account on Shard Tabletop (https://www.shardtabletop.com/) so you can have access to the VTT and character sheets. We'll go over how to use the platform during session 0, so no worries if you don't have any experience using it.
