About the adventure
This game is for players who love fantasy and want to move deeper and further into storytelling realism. I offer stories where the subjective experience of both player characters and NPCs are relevant, where plotlines are as complex and rich as real life issues, and where the world is densely woven by the motivations of everyone who inhabits it. 🧠 Subjective Depth 🧠 In this game, your character's motivation will be thoroughly crafted from the beginning to incorporate a complex background and issues such as belonging in the world, finding one-self, and refining one's moral compass. Enough of the boring s**t like "I'm doing it for the gold". Expect dreams, visions, emotions and inner journeys to matter way more than killing random kobolds. 💪 Character Self-Development 💪 I eventually got tired of looking at a character sheet and thinking "ok, that's who this is". Yeah, because in real life we all fully know who we are, right? Ha! In this game, your character will have to discover who they are and their many hidden potentials as they unlock different aspects of their behavior and life development—like in real life. In Arcanum Sublime, these potentials are determined from character creation, but are hidden to the player unless discovered or revealed throughout gameplay. 🌿Organic and Coherent Growth 🌿 F*ck levels. If you want to learn it, you earn it. In this game, growth has to happen both in-game and in-character. Hidden potentials in character creations are one part of the picture, and encountering the right circumstances and putting the right effort is the other part. That's how you develop your character in Arcanum Sublime. ⚪ Light and Darkness ⚫ Ever since the beginning of the fantasy genre, good and evil, light and darkness, has been central to it. In this game, this theme is profoundly incorporated at all levels, from the fabric of the world to the challenges and hidden potentials of the character, both in their inner life and external ordeals. Expect ethics, morality, and spirituality to be inherently linked to accessing light powers, and real, emotional sacrifices to access dark powers. 🔍 Immersion-based Plot 🔍 D&D's classic plot: Receive mission > go somewhere > kill villain > gain gold and xp > repeat I got tired of that. Instead, I prefer plots that resemble real life. Less obvious and straight-forward, but more rich, realistic, and immersive, they provide with so much player agency. The world is just there for you to find what matters (to you). 😈 Psychological Depth 😈 Character depth in a dark fantasy setting entails dealing with the enemy within as often as the enemy without. Be ready for role-playing a character with psychological issues, where the subconscious is a battleground as much as any. 🎲 Custom System 🎲 Arcanum Sublime is a system designed to fulfill the needs of narrative-driven, subjective-heavy games. Creating your character
Character creation in Arcanum Sublime is unique (and AWESOME). The player rolls a set of dice that determine fundamental features of the character, some of which remain secret and have to be discovered in-game. Players joining the campaign from the beginning will create their characters in-game during session 1. Players joining later will have to book a 30 min pre session for character creation (usually 30 mins before a regular session). No preparation or reading is required. Quite the contrary. The less you have an idea about what you want to play, the better. The character creation process is in itself a process of (self-)discovery.

How DMKels creates a safe table
Each players fills up a form when joining the game and there they add veils and lines, which then are anonymously shared to the group so we all know about them. Then, after each session, a debriefing is done, specially after sensitive topics appear in-game. Aftercare is provided if needed (optional). Sessions also might include breaks when needed.
