About the adventure
The Galactic Stallion: a glistening jewel floating through neutral space. Glittering lights and bold colors stretch as far as the eye can see on a space station bigger than most of the outer rim colonies out in Andromeda. Out here, there are only three laws: money, power, and luck. Maxibillion Janus, the casino's owner has the most of all three. Folks come from all over Andromeda to test their luck and find their fortune. Countless fools have even tried to rob it, but none have ever succeeded, and a man like Maxibillion likes to make an example of his enemies. That's where you come in. You have the skills, moxie, and (most importantly) desperation needed to pull of the greatest heist of all time. (NOTE: Although we will be using the SW5e system, this game is NOT set in the Star Wars universe)

About me
I'm an actor, writer, and comedian who loves to bring stories to life and collaborate with other creative people. I've been roleplaying and GM-ing for over 10 years. I started playing Pathfinder with my improv, but I've grown to prefer the streamlined ease of D&D 5th edition so that my players and I can focus on the story unfolding rather than math and mechanical crunch. Most of my players in my home games are Dungeon Masters themselves (several of whom are professionals themselves) but I'm also comfortable introducing new players to the game and helping them learn the ropes. I'm funny, creative, and tactical in my approach to every game. Ever since I was a kid, I've always had a desire to create new games for my friends to play and storied worlds to lose myself in, but I never had the perfect outlet for that drive before I discovered the world of ttrpgs.

Creating your character
Players will be making level 4 characters using the SW5e game system. Character stats must be rolled in the roll20 server, though players may instead choose to use Point Buy or Standard Array if they wish. This does not take place in the Star Wars universe, so when making an alien character, feel free to re-flavor your species as whatever you like and the force-wielding classes will be treated as psychics rather than Jedi. Story hooks to further implant yourself into the plot will be available upon request. All character equipment and setup will be the standard by-the books starting materials.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure you have a Discord and Roll20 account as both will be needed to play and set up for the game. Cameras are not necessary, but are always encouraged for better roleplay, but a working microphone is a must. Lasty, come with a good attitude and a desire to collaborate with your fellow players.
What Ben brings to the table
In game, you can expect distinct voices for NPCs, a dynamic soundtrack, and vivid descriptions to help immerse you in the world. Out of game, I'm always happy to talk about character details and help players get what they need to feel excited about an upcoming game. I'm a professional improviser, so I'm happy to use Rule of Cool to reward players for making creative decisions to push the story forward. My combats are dynamic and tactical, with an emphasis on motivation and environmental play. It's important to me that players feel inspired to do more than simply stand in one place and hit a stat block with a stick until everything is dead. I try to keep the flow of gameplay fast and player focused, while still leaving room for players to explore their characters and roleplay the relationships that are important to them. I have oodles of lore available for those who are interested, but absolutely none of it is mandatory to understanding what's going on or how to interact with the world.
Homebrew rules
I don't tend to bring too many homebrew rules into one-shots (I mean who wants to learn a bunch of new rules for a game you're only playing once) but I do use Flanking because it leads to more interesting cooperative tactics. Besides, let's be real. Most of us forgot that Flanking isn't RAW anyways. I bet you did. You forgot flanking wasn't Rules as Written, didn't you? I know I did. As mentioned in the character creation section, I'm also very happy to let players re-flavor their species, background, and class features as much as they wish as long as it doesn't change the mechanical function and I can still tell what everything actually is.

Safety
How Ben creates a safe table
I use Lines and Veils style player consent sheets to make sure all of the content of my games is within my player's comfort zones. I'm also open to talking before, during, and after sessions to make sure everyone is enthusiastic about the story we're telling. Bigotry, intolerance, or disrespect of any kind is not welcome at my table and any players who cannot accept that will be kicked.
