Creating your character

Characters will begin with the following: • Level 3 using the 2014 or 2024 rules • Average (fixed) HP • Standard Array or Point Buy for ability scores • Any official content from the 2014 or 2024 D&D rulesets • Homebrew options may be permitted with prior approval • 1 free feat • 1 Uncommon magic item • 1 Common magic item • A backstory of any length (details below) • Character art or a token for use in the VTT Character sheets can be created and maintained through Roll20, which will be available upon request. Access links will also be shared through the Discord server listed below. ➤I enjoy working closely with players during character creation. Together, we’ll shape your backstory and naturally integrate your character into the world. We will connect them to existing locations, factions, and ongoing events. If necessary, we can also develop new elements within the setting to support your character’s story. ➤My goal is to help you create a character you’re truly excited to play and watch grow throughout the campaign. ➤If you need assistance with character creation or have any questions about the campaign, feel free to reach out to me on Discord at any time.

Preparing for the session

To help sessions run smoothly, please ensure you have the following: ➤ A decent-quality microphone ➤ Headphones or earbuds ➤ A stable internet connection and computer ➤ A Discord account (used for voice and video) ➤ A Roll20 account (used for combat, character sheets, and visual references) Your character sheet, backstory, and character art/token should be completed or submitted through Roll20 before Session 1 begins. Optional ➤ Dice – You’re welcome to roll physical dice if you prefer, though Roll20’s virtual dice will also be available. ➤ A webcam - I will have mine on and your welcome to join me

For newer players, I’m always happy to guide you through the game and help you learn as we play. For veterans, I strive to provide engaging sessions that capture the classic magic of tabletop RPGs. While I generally follow the rules, I also enjoy leaning into the Rule of Cool when the moment calls for it, especially if it gives your character a chance to shine. How Marcus creates a safe table

During Session 0, we will: • Introduce ourselves and get acquainted as a group • Cover the basics of D&D for any new players • Provide an overview of the world, setting, and current events • Discuss table expectations, etiquette, and group dynamics • Review safety tools and establish clear boundaries for the campaign At the end of each session, we will also take a few minutes for a brief check in, where players can share what they enjoyed, offer feedback, and discuss anything that could be improved. To support player comfort and safety, X, N, and O cards will be available digitally and anonymously through Roll 20. Additionally, a consent form will be provided in Discord, allowing players to privately note any themes or topics they would prefer to avoid during the game. These practices help create a respectful, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for everyone at the table.
