About the adventure
Barovia is a valley trapped in magical mist—cut off from the world and ruled by a mysterious immortal known only as Strahd, a name whispered in fearful tones by those who remember the old legends. When you cross the mist’s threshold, the land responds to you, amplifying your hopes and fears in ways you can feel. You’ll walk through villages clinging to strange traditions, encounter ancient spirits offering cryptic warnings, and sense the mist itself watching. This is a Daggerheart adventure where you unravel Strahd’s curse, discover who he truly is, and decide what kind of heroes you will become in a land that refuses to let anyone leave. What to expect: 🩸 Non-linear gameplay: Choose your own path and tackle quests in any order. 🩸 Active villain: Strahd is always watching, manipulating, and shaping the story. 🩸 Moral ambiguity: Barovia’s people are flawed, with no clear heroes or villains. 🩸 Survival in a cursed land: Barovia is bleak, with little hope and even less magic. 🩸 Wonderfully rendered animated interactive maps

Meet the Game Master
About me
My name is Erick. I have played Tabletop RPGS for 30 years now. If you ever told me that I could get paid to play TTRPGs I would have thought you were joking. But here I am today. The CEO of StartPlaying asked me join StartPlaying during beta just before the pandemic. When the pandemic lifted I went back to running in-person games at game rooms where I live. I now back on StartPlaying to open up to online games again. I have run games for events, conventions and Adventure League helping people learn and understand TTRPGs for the first time. And for the advanced players, I have offered challenging and intriguing memorable stories. I have traveled the world as a travel photographer connecting with people and telling their stories. Now it is time to create our own stories together. Let us sit down with a group of friends, roll some dice and tell a story together.

How Erick creates a safe table
This is a horror based game. There are a lot of possible triggers based on what the players backstories and the mysteries that come up. It is best that we focus on what people's lines are rather than list every possible trauma. To do this we will use the Deck of Player Safety which allows people to anonymously state their lines. This will be done during our session 0. We will also implement using the X card system that will allow players to stop a scene that they do not feel uncomfortable with. After each game we will leave the game open for any discussion. I will also be available for anytime you need to talk about the session.
