About the adventure
This is a worbuilding and grand strategy homebrew RPG set in a low fantasy world shaped entirely by our group. Together, we will create the cultures, power structures, and setting. Once the world is established, you will control a single nation within it, playing the game through a simulation of the world's politics, war, and player interaction on a global scale. Each player will play as a guiding force behind their state. They will design it as they wish with a heavy focus on grounded realism in a fantasy world. You will direct your millitary, playing the role of various army leaders and commanders on the field. You will influence the economy and will of the people in your doctrine and decisions as a ruler. We will meet up in the given timeframes to perform diplomacy, alliances, trade aggrements, battles, strategy, etc. Every decision made will shape your nation and influence the game. This game is designed for a group that will enjoy going in depth to this fictional world and story we will build together. There is no fixed story (yet), but the ambitions and actions of the players will create a large-scale conflict with power blocs, espionage, and grand warfare. While your nation may rise or fall, the emphasize will be on a compelling and fun story that feels like a living breathing history. We will invest in a world that evolves over time. Summary: If you are interested in political maneuvering, realistic warfare, building a nation, and playing as its inhabitants, sign up!

About me
Hello, I am a DM that has been running games for almost six years now. I have run a number of systems, mainly D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and Mutants & Masterminds. I love to think that I am a very personable and fair DM within my games. I do my best keeping my games grounded, while prioritizing fun for the players above all. I have most recently ran and complated a homebrew Mutants & Masterminds campaign that went very well. I have also spent a long time worldbuilding a completely hombrew fictional world, with history from the ancient era to the modern day.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place before the campaign begins in a 1-on-1 session with the DM. This will allow us to build a nation and its relevant players that fit your personal vision within the larger world, without giving away anything important to fellow players. You will create multiplte characters tied to your nation. These characters will be the key figures such as rulers, generals, and diplomats. This is an adventure that will be on a grand scale with players pitted against each other, as well as working together. Stats will be determined through random values, with flexibility based on your intended characetr concept. The goal is balance and realism. All characters will be created and managed in roll20. I will provide any necassary materials. We will make a discord for the game when the time comes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please make accounts on discord and roll20. We will prepare further through 1 on 1 discord calls, and collaborate notes/characters on roll20.
What Liam brings to the table
I will focus on realism, consequence, and rules driven play. At the end of the day the goal is to tell a comeplling and realistic story that we all felt was both fair and fun. We want things to both be logical, cinematic, and for decisions to hold weight over time. The world will react to you and I will attempt to play all NPCs as well as an overall narrator to the best of my abilities. Combat is meant to be tactical, but it is not the sole focus. Most conflicts will play out at the level of armies, logistics, and planning rather than individual duels of characters, like in a traditional rpg. I do not rely heavily on character voices or theatrical presentation. Instead, I focus on clear communication, grounded roleplay, and immersion through consistency. The tone is closer to a historical chronicle than a cinematic fantasy. I'm a huge nerd who loves spreadsheets, fake wikipedias, and creating a grounded fantasy history. The goal is to create a living and breathing world.
Homebrew rules
The entire game will be homebrew. I plan to use a mixture of many different systems that I believe will best simulate the given need. For example, we will likely be using Gurps mass combat for the rules of general combat and unit strength among armies. What systems will be used is not finalized and will be an amalgamation.

How Liam creates a safe table
We will have a session 0 in which we will discuss any hard lines that anybody. In advance to that, I would like people to privately message me any concerns they may have, so I can bring them to the table at session 0 rather than force you to come out on your own. We can make a ruleslist on discord of what is ok and what is not.
