About the adventure
Icarus Burning is a one-session thrill ride designed as a self contained story, an introduction to the Mothership system and a potential jumping off point for bigger adventures. Think of it as an evening playing through a sci-fi horror movie. Explore the Icarus A freelance crew sets out on what they expected to be a routine supply run, they're shaken to find that someone - or something - has caused severe damage to a seemingly invincible ship. Now trapped inside with dangerous research specimens roaming free and all systems dead, the crew needs to find a way off the Icarus and soon. For the nearby sun looms ever closer and the temperature is beginning to rise. Bring your Crew to life Your unlucky shipmates must discover what happened aboard the Icarus while attempting to find a way off the ship and back to safety. Players have their pick of premade characters from one of four clases, or can take ten minutes to make a character from scratch at the table. Make Hard Choices Characters in Mothership are always fighting to survive danger, solve a problem or save the day. But be warned - you may have to pick just one.

About me
Long term DM who likes storytelling and interacting with the world and my players. Want to make a weird and quirky character? Fancy a walk through worlds that feel alive and react to whats going on? Lets go! DISCLAIMER - Games played with this DM will frequently include at least one of the following: Dragon magic, pirates, magical hobos and a lesbian couple selling noodle soup. I'm not sure why, it just happens.

Creating your character
There will be several premade characters provided per class for those who want to jump straight in. However, I'm very happy for people to take a few minutes and have a go at making something a little more personal - character creation in Mothership is designed to be done very quickly and very clearly marked on the sheets for ease of use. Mothership doesn't have levels, so everybody is starting from the same place. It's more important to think about who your character is as a person - what it is they want and how they're likely to act when things go wrong and they find themselves in danger.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This game will be played over voice chat on Discord, so an account is needed to play, along with a working microphone. Video isn't strictly necessary, but is encouraged as it helps to prevent people from interrupting each other by accident. Mothership Character sheets and a cheat sheet for the basic rules will be provided once people join the game. Even if you don't make a character beforehand, it's recommended to read the cheat sheet so you have a basic understanding of whats going on.
What Rob the DM brings to the table
A dicebot will be provided, but players are welcome to use their own dice. I also bring character sheets, a basic cheat sheet for the rules, atmospheric music and good vibes.

How Rob the DM creates a safe table
This session is designed to be a tense race against time to discover what happened aboard the Icarus and get out. Before the session begins, we can go over any lines and veils people may want to include while playing. I usually try to include at least one break per session, with players more than welcome to request one if they feel overwhelmed or need a minute to gather themselves. Sessions will always end with a debrief to talk over what went well and any issues that need adressing followed by a round of compliments so that everyone leaves the table with a good vibe.
