About the adventure
On May Eve, the veil thins—and something ancient stirs in the hills. The villagers of Thornwick beg for your help: the bonfire meant to keep the Hollow King asleep refuses to stay lit, strange figures wander the treeline at dusk, and the elders whisper that tonight is the night the old stories walk. This is a folk horror D&D 5E one shot inspired by The Wicker Man, Midsommar, and old European May Eve traditions. Expect atmospheric tension, strange rituals, moral choices, and a story where your decisions shape the fate of an entire village. New and experienced players welcome. Safety tools provided. No prior horror experience needed—just curiosity and courage. Will you keep the fire burning… or face what wakes in the dark?

About me
I've been playing D&D since long before D&D was cool. I got my start in the late 70s with the Basic box set, which at that time included module B1, In Search of the Unknown. I prefer to DM and have run every version of D&D since Basic/AD&D. I mostly run 5E games but also enjoy ShadowDark. My longest-running D&D campaign, set in the World of Greyhawk, has been running for 10 years now and is still going strong. I try to combine the best of Old School and Modern in my games, from dungeon crawling to diversity and inclusion.

What Kyle brings to the table
I plan to use ambient music to enhance this dark fantasy adventure. While I will strive to maintain the overall spooky/horror mood, I am not above a little humor to break the tension. Rule of Cool occasionally might overrule Rules as Written, too.

How Kyle creates a safe table
This will be a dark fantasy one-shot, and character death is a real possibility. However, in addition to the Roll20 Safety Tools (X, N, O, and more cards), you are always welcome to DM (whisper) me in-game on Roll20. You also are welcome to email or text me (kyle.crider@gmail.com / 205.306.5811) before or during the game with any concerns or questions.
