About me

I'm Paul Lemus. I think ttrpgs are my favorite medium for storytelling, game design, and for cooperative, multiplayer experiences. I also have ADHD, so it meshes well. I have DMed for dozens of players, ranging in group sizes from 1-7 and I loved every one of those sessions. I also enjoy writing one-shots, and I think players can expect to see a special extra-long one-shot session pop up from time to time on the weekends. I also love writing campaigns, and I hope to find groups here on startplying.games that enjoy character arcs and playing through grand campaigns with homebrew content. I'm also a huge fan of settings books, such Mythic Odysseys of Theros, FR Adventures in Faerun, and Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. An

Character creation

Creating your character

🧭 Session Zero (Free!) • We’ll meet virtually on Discord and FoundryVTT. • We’ll walk through expectations, tone, rules, and party composition together. 🖥️ Platform • Played entirely online using Discord and FoundryVTT. • Character creation will be done together in FoundryVTT as a guided group process. • By the end, you’ll have a fully built Level 15 character ready to play. 📊 Character Creation • Stats use Standard Array. • We’ll use the Core Rulebooks, Heroes of Faerûn, and the Artificer class from Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (all provided digitally). ⚔️ Party Composition • I’ll gently nudge the group toward a balanced party: Martial, Caster, Specialist, and Support. • You’re free to choose any class(es) you’d like.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

🖥️ Platform • You will need a Discord account. • I will create a Foundry account for you on the server; it’s accessible via your browser. • The best experience is with a capable PC. • I pay for SwipeVTT (Foundry’s mobile experience), but it comes with some limitations. 📋 Session Zero • We will have a Session Zero before the adventure begins to ensure a working setup for the whole party. Zero-risk!

What Paul brings to the table

🧭 Curated Adventure • I write a curated adventure, complete with NPCs, balanced combat, and an atmosphere where your actions matter. • Your choices have weight, consequences, and impact on the world around you. 📖 Rules & Rulings • I generally stick to rules-as-written. • Rule of Cool always applies—especially when it elevates our shared storytelling. 🤝 Session Zero • We’ll align on expectations, tone, character concepts, boundaries, and table rules before we begin.

Homebrew rules

- Exploding Dice Criticals (Maximum on the initial damage roll).

Safety

How Paul creates a safe table

🛡️ Safety • We will begin with an initial Lines and Veils Google Form before Session Zero. • I always ask, "Any comments, questions, or concerns?" after each session to invite open group discussion. • I’m also available on Discord for private comments, questions, or concerns. • X, N, & O’s are configured in FoundryVTT and can be raised digitally (with additional options like rewind, fast-forward, etc.). 🧭 Session Zero • We will review expectations, table etiquette, character concepts, and safety tools together before play begins.
