About the adventure
In the world of Xorl, in the great central sea, shipping lanes are everything. While many cities make their fortunes through trade, nothing holds a candle to the legendary city of Sargos. Sitting in the Northwest region of the Central Sea, Sargos finds itself seated at the juncture of three major currents. A coalition of trade barons, along with a declaration that anything non-sentient can be bought or sold, and you find yourself with the recipe for great fortunes and horrible disaster. The only real rule on the island is this: "Don't cause trouble for Sargos and Sargos won't make trouble for you." Players find themselves, for whatever reason, in the right place at the wrong time. A very lucrative contract for one of the head trade barons. Within a few sessions, players will find themselves embroiled in a plot that goes far deeper than just gold and glory. Explore a massive city. Make a name and a fortune for yourself. Most importantly, stay on the good side of those who run Sargos. Which leads to the unanswered question: Who runs Sargos? The game features the use of a custom variant of the "Sanity" stat. All players start with 20 Sanity. Every time they come across something that is either disconcerting or dangeroust they make a Sanity check. Failure on a sanity check -permanently- lowers the character's sanity score as they move ever closer to madness. There is an element of "Dark Personal Horror" alongside the mystery of a fantasy world that is no stranger to corruption or lost morality. Ultimately, you can expect an immersive experience. What you do matters in every sense of the world. You will have a say in the future of the island, its inhabitants, and how the story progresses along the way. This doesn't mean killing off characters is allowed without a great deal of calibration between both players, but the world is our sandbox, and it belongs to both the players and the ST/DM. Hope to see you in-game! <3

About me
Aloha! I'm a medically retired LGBTQIA+ U.S. Army veteran. Roleplaying and storytelling are my passions and I love creating a world and story for players to experience and be a part of. I've been playing TableTop Role Playing Games (TTRPGs) for two decades with thousands of hours at every level of play across a variety of systems. I've also designed a game system specifically for large-scale Play-By-Post servers. Please send me a message if you have any questions! <3
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
We will work on character creation through both the free Session Zero and in a private channel within the game's Discord server. With some exceptions, we will be sticking mostly to RAW D&D 5e Core 2024; as opposed to legacy 5e. There is a series of homebrew races I'm working on for my custom world, and you are welcome to ask me about most things once you join! I'm open to a lot of unique options for character design. Anything not official WotC (Wizards of the Coast) will require approval, however, and some alternate D&D settings won't be allowed either. Characters will be created inside of Foundry, a program I run on my computer that you can connect to for free, and you are able to make backup copies of the characters at any time. Characters will start at level 5 but may be a higher level when you join.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Discord account is necessary to join, along with a functional microphone. A computer is required for access to Foundry, though no account is needed to access it. Set aside time for the game! I understand that life happens, but when there is background noise or a lack of focus, it detracts from other players' experiences.
What EmilyEmpossible brings to the table
Whatever you need! All of my NPCs tend to have unique voices. Combat uses line of sight and light mechanics inside Foundry with detailed battlemaps. Everything on the map can be engaged with! Ultimately, game systems are tools that we use to tell stories. I stick fairly closely to RAW (Rules As Written) so that we all have a mutual foundation from which to tell stories. Don't be afraid to ask if you have a cool idea or mechanics you wish to utilize! Let me know what you need from me, and let's have fun!
Homebrew rules
A few custom race options and a couple of new types of magic. BA Potions for self. Custom rules and homebrew are posted on the Discord server.

Safety
How EmilyEmpossible creates a safe table
Session zero will contain a large rundown of topics. Each new player after the game starts will have a 1-2 hour long 1-on-1 session zero with me to communicate things. Lines & Veils are a must, and will be publicly posted (without attached names) for the campaign as a whole. Any issues in-game can be met with either a verbal pause or can be sent with a Discord notice to me in each player's private channel/ticket. Aftercare consists of stars and wishes, a round-robin discussion where everyone discusses their highlights for the session and what they would like to see moving forward. Conversations with the ST (me) are available at any time.
