About the adventure

This Nimble adventure is on a world where there are no huge continents: it is instead a group of seafaring cultures just on the cusp of learning how to ride the skies. Marami's four nations (and two territories owned by one of the nations) live in a shaky sort of harmony--it seems like whole world is holding its breath for something to shake it from its roots. The story may start small and become more politically complex as it goes, but it will always be personal to the characters. I love exploring characters' motivations and how they affect the world around them. I want Marami to be a living, breathing place that is affected by the things your characters do and reacts in kind. This will be a roleplay heavy game with combat run quick, chaotic, and wild so we hopefully won't be having fights that last multiple sessions. I also want to do my best to teach my players the mechanics and rules of the game so we can bend them every once in a while. Session 0 is a free session. The game is listed as $25 per session, but for our first arc while we're getting to know each other, I will lower the price for each individual to $15 per person per session. Before the price changes, I will make sure all players are having a good time and feeling like they're getting their fair share of participation.

About me

Hello hello! I’m Joe and my passion for storytelling and performance has been a lifelong adventure. I got my start with character work roleplaying by post on online forums and while I was studying to become an actor, I was introduced to TTRPGs. I started with DnD 3.5e for a couple of years, took a break and got back into the hobby in 2021 to voraciously do as much as I can. I am most comfortable with “Rule of Cool” “Theater of the Mind” games like Monster of the Week, Orbital Blues, and The Wildsea, but I’m not afraid to break out a map and get gritty with it. I’ve run successful multi-year campaigns of Blades in the Dark, MotW, and Orbital Blues. At one point, I was running/playing in five games concurrently, so I’m definitely able to multitask and keep track of what’s going on. I’m a very active player in TTRPGs, as well, so I have plenty of experience on both sides of the table. Let’s while away the time and make some kickass stories together! I hope to see y’all at my table soon.

Character creation

Creating your character

Please reference the core rulebook for character creation rules. Please select 2-3 classes you may like to play and we can negotiate on who plays what during Session 0. We will also be creating characters during Session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please join my Discord server to chat, hang out, and voice call during our games! We will be using FoundryVTT for the game itself and characters are SUPER easy to create on that, so please make an account to join the game.

What Joe brings to the table

I do my best to do character voices and am learning how to use ambient music during games. My combat tends to be fast & chaotic and I usually follow by the Rule of Cool most of th etime!

Safety

How Joe creates a safe table

I will be sending the Monte Cook Games Consent Checklist out to all players to fill out anonymously before our Session 0. Then, I will make a document marking all the triggers closest to red and redistribute that to the group. X Cards are verbal and I will occasionally be checking in using the Trafflic Light System: ("What color is everyone's traffic light right now?" "Green/Go!" "Yellow/Slow down, let's talk about this!" "Red/STOP!") In Session 0, I will go over: - The Lines/Veils I received from the Consent Checklist - The general vibe/tone of the game on a scale of Benny Hill to Game of Thrones - Table Expectations and Boundaries: What etiquette do we want to have at our table? - The Game Style: How much combat vs RP vs exploration vs puzzles do we want to have? - Character Death and how we respond to someone failing their death saves - PvP and how to balance between having tension between characters without having them outright betray each other - What do we do when 1 person/more people cannot show up to a session - An introduction to our cast of characters - The plot hook for Session 1 and a tiny bit of homework to think about before that session
