About the adventure

Eternal winter has claimed the far reaches of the North. The sun barely rises over the frozen tundra of Icewind Dale, and when it does, it offers little warmth—only pale light across endless snow, howling winds, and isolated settlements struggling to survive. In this land of creaking glaciers and half-forgotten gods, something ancient stirs beneath the ice. "Rime of the Frostmaiden" is a dark fantasy campaign of survival, mystery, and creeping cosmic horror, where hope is scarce, trust is fragile, and every choice echoes in the cold. This game is for players who enjoy rich roleplay, moral ambiguity, and character-driven storytelling alongside tense exploration and tactical combat. You’ll create heroes shaped by hardship—outcasts, wanderers, survivors, and seekers—each with secrets of their own. Your backstory will matter. Your bonds will matter. The frozen wastes will test not just your strength, but your convictions, forcing you to decide what you’re willing to sacrifice to protect what little warmth remains in the world. My tables emphasize immersive storytelling, vivid descriptions, and meaningful player agency. The world reacts to your actions. NPCs remember your deeds. Victories feel earned, and failure carries weight. Expect a balanced mix of investigation, social intrigue, wilderness survival, and dangerous combat encounters, with space for character moments and emergent storytelling. I favor cinematic pacing and collaborative worldbuilding, where player ideas help shape the evolving narrative. Above all, this is a game about standing against the dark—not because victory is guaranteed, but because someone has to try. If you enjoy bleak settings, deep character arcs, and uncovering terrible truths buried beneath the snow, Icewind Dale awaits. Bring a torch, trust your companions, and prepare to face the endless night.

About me

Join me in a realm where quality storytelling meets heart-pounding excitement. Together, we'll forge narratives that echo with laughter, spark with intrigue, and reverberate with the pure joy of collaborative creativity! Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a first-time traveller, the magic of role-playing games awaits! Infused with a theatrical spirit, my storytelling transcends mere narration. Every character springs to life, each plot twist unfolds like a scene on a grand stage. Drawing from my background in acting, I bring an extra layer of depth to your tabletop odyssey, where your every decision, every roll of the dice, is a stepping stone towards an unforgettable epic!!

Character creation

Creating your character

Please bring 3 character concepts to the Session 0. During the Session 0, we will have an open table discussion about what characters will best fit the setting and narrative. We will then complete the creation process, rolling 4d6 Drop Lowest for stats (re-roll anything less than an 8). I have a huge library of content I am willing to share. Should you wish to utilise content you own, please clear with me first. No Homebrew content - I do own a copy of Subclasses Revivifed, which offers a 2024 update to many classic 2014 subclasses, which I am happy to utilise. Please keep to Forgotten Realms content only - the only exception to this is if you have an intriguing and narratively appropriate reason to utilise content from other settings. No Aarokocra or Kenku ("bird people"). Please refrain from using AI generated art for PC tokens. Please provide token art at Session 0, so that I can create PC tokens for you. I have a Discord server, where I am available for any questions - and there is no question too stupid! - so please feel free to come ask!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Roll20 Account, and a Discord Account. Both of these can be obtained for free (do not require any monthly subscriptions or one-off payments) My Discord server invites will be issued once you sign up to the game.

What DM PeteWookiee brings to the table

I have been an actor on stage since I was 5, have multiple performances over my life including but not limited to Shakespeare (Midsummer Night's Dream as Oberon), Rocky Horror Show (Frank N Furter) and Little Shop of Horrors (voice of Audrey II) and even performed for a week at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Most recently, I have appeared as Security Officer Shaun Kane in the sci fi movie "Offworld: Alien Planet", which is currently available for free on Amazon and other free movie streaming sites. In addition to this, I have been in 2 rock bands, and appeared on the UK Indie circuit as a Professional Wrestler! Since before I was 10 I have been an avid player of the Fighting Fantasy choose-your-own-adventure gamebooks before getting my introduction to Games Workshop and Warhammer very early on in the 1990s. Despite all of this, I only actually started playing D&D just as everywhere was going into Lockdown due to a mixture of encouragement from my then-partner, and Stranger Things, discovering Critical Role shortly after. I now DM for D&D in several sessions a week in an ongoing campaigns, and also GM both Candela Obscura and Daggerheart. I also GM the Modiphius Fallout 2d20 RPG and Free League's Alien RPG. The game I run focuses more on the roleplay and imaginative side of the game rather than the mechanical, rules driven side. Rule of Cool trumps all, and I reward creative thinking and interaction in character. My personal preference is to shy away from meta game descriptions, for example, if someone asks you how hurt you are, you could describe your physical shape, rather than simply stating how many Hit Points you have. If this sounds like the kind of game you're looking for, then you may be the player for us!!! I'd rather hear a cool concept for a character than have a min/maxxed superhero. There are some restrictions as to content we're using, and I'll let you know if/when you're chosen and creating your character. So, in summary, if this sounds like a game you'd like to be a part of, tell me a bit about your experience, your favourite character you've played, and an epic moment from a game you've played in, or a favourite film. tv show, or book. I look forward to hearing from you soon!!
