About the adventure

Operation: Cerberus is a Imperial Guard 40K Horror story about Orks invading a paradise world and the hard-as-nails cub scouts who get sent to stop them. WITH TANKS! It's suitable for both players new to the system as well as vets. It's NOT suitable for kids, so you must be at least that tall and that many years old to ride. How tall and how old? Tall enough and old enough to DRIVE A TANK! 'Cuz TANKS! And ORKS! AND ORK TANKS! This is the first of three related one-shots that will follow the Armageddon Steel Legion in their attempt to save the resort planet of Biminus from the Ork Waargh! of Warlord Vroom-Splaht of the Evil Sunz Clan....so they can feed the planet to a Tyranid splinter fleet and rescue another ag world they've never heard of or been to before. "Cuz 40K! 'Nuff said.

About me

My name is David and I'm a forever-GM. I was bitten by the big, bad red box at age nine and the rest, as they say, is history. I've been playing and running tabletop RPGs for 45 years and it is still my passion. I have also always enjoyed teaching new players and systems. Teaching others to play and GM has always struck me as the best way to be a good custodian to the hobby. Something I became mindful of after owning an LGS for a few years. Over the decades I have gotten a lot of practice writing and running several popular IP based RPGs. I'm particularly fond of the Star Wars, Star Trek, The One Ring & Warhammer 40k campaigns I've been fortunate enough to GM in the last two decades. On a more recent note, I have begun running Forbidden Lands campaigns. I've fallen completely for the setting and the system. Free League really outdid their selves with that particular work. The last few months I have been learning my way around Foundry VTT. I couldn't think of a better way to learn the VTT than run something on it. So, that's a glimpse into my past and a word about my present. As for the future, I sincerely look forward towards meeting more of the community here. See you at the table, David

Character creation

Creating your character

Everyone will be playing a tier 1 Guardsman and a tier 2 Tempestus Scion. Both should be Armageddon Steel Legion. Character creation will be done before the game starts. I have pre-generated PC's for those who don't have time.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We use the chat on my discord server for voice/vid, so you'll need discord account and to join the server. I'll get an invitation out to you soon after you sign up.

What Fire Mountain brings to the table

D-Day. You get to play D-Day. Vs Nazi Orks. With Tanks. And Artillery. Now that I think of it, maybe you should all write up FOUR characters. Other than that, YES, I do Ork voices, and there MIGHT be music, but I DON'T do Ork singing, sorry. Umm, is trying to pick your way through a minefield while artillery hammers you from over a ridgeline that you are also taking fire from "intense, tactical combat"?? Ooh, I know, I'll make it a swamp too! Then it'll be "intense", cuz Tanks and Swamps mix so damn well. Pretty sure this one will be rule-of-cool. 'Cuz, TANKS! What to expect? Well it's a story about some orky homicidal maniacs who invaded a tropical resort and the group of cub scouts who are gonna try and take it back so expect blood, beautiful scenery, carnage, swimming pools no one will EVER swim in again, tanks, noble refugees in flip flops and bikinis, Orks handing out explosive slave collars for FREE, dragons teeth, exotic cuisine cooking in the ruins of a shelled out restaurant, Orks taking full advantage of all the free mini-bars, land mines, starving grots with SHARP knives, unbelievable sunsets, pre-plotted artillery solutions and the Mek Boyz who love them, Hawaiian style BBQ cooked with flamethrowers and, of course, an ork ambush at every source of fresh water on the entire damn island. I think that about covers it.

Homebrew rules

Will a guardsman last long enough in a tank battle to explain a rule? Guess we best not use any homebrew then.

Safety

How Fire Mountain creates a safe table

There will be a ten-fifteen minute break somewhere near the half-way point. I maintain a no-questions-asked open door policy at all times. If someone needs to step away from the table for any reason whatsoever, they needn't even ask or say a word. After the game I like to do a quick stars and wishes circle to hear everyone's thoughts and let everyone relax a bit.
