About the adventure

When slavers strike the crossroads village of Waymere, they leave behind ashes, silence, and broken families. Survivors whisper of iron brands, forced marches, and a caravan already vanishing down the old roads. The players take on the roles of heroes drawn into the raids aftermath, whether by duty, conscience, or coincidence. The trail leads through dangerous wilds and hard choices, where every decision weighs freedom against fear. The slavers are ruthless, organized, and unashamed. They are not the only danger waiting along the road. Where Chains Break is a Daggerheart campaign focused on pursuit, consequence, and hope under pressure. Expect tense social encounters, moments of decisive action, and choices that test not just your blades and spells, but your hearts. You will be pursuing the captured residents but ultimately you the player will control the narrative. You may save lives. You may fail. But the world will remember what you chose to do.

About me

Hi! I have been a Dungeon Master for Dungeons and Dragons since 2016 and have been running Daggerheart games since launch. Telling a story is number one in my book. If that means stretching the rules, I usually always rule on the side of cool. I am a huge fan of building a world that the players can change and effect with their decisions. If the players make a decision to release the entombed elemental dragons, that decision resonates through every game I run from that point on. If the players become known as the hero's that dismantled the slave trade in Evermoor, they may just find a statue built in their honor years later by new characters. I want my players to feel like every decision matters and it wont just disappear after the game has concluded.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players are free to create their own characters before session 0, but I encourage everyone to discuss their characters with the others to help forge their connections with other characters.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be utilizing Demiplane for character creation and roll20 as a VTT. For communication, I will be utilizing discord. I will also include a live visual of Roll20 in the discord channel as a courtesy.

What GingerJams brings to the table

I bring a wide array of experiences to the game. I will have ambient music to set the tone of the scene and will have various styles of combat. From intense tactical fights to small encounters to drive the narrative forward. I embrace the Rule of Cool, where if you have a cool idea, share it! I will 98% of the time say, "absolutely, that sounds awesome!"

Homebrew rules

The major change I have made for Daggerheart is utilizing a numbers based monetary system similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Receiving 100 gold is just more satisfying then you receive two handfuls of gold.
