About the adventure

The setting is the city of Doskvol, a haunted Victorian-era city trapped inside a wall of lightning powered by demon blood where the group will attempt to thrive against the teeming threats of rival gangs, powerful noble families, vengeful ghosts, the Bluecoats of the City Watch and the siren song of their own vices. The game has a sandbox-style play structure where the group will interact with the world around them, plan scores to expand the reach and power of their enterprise, enjoy downtime and repeat. As time goes on the crew's actions will leave lasting impacts on the city and possibly the setting at large as they forge alliances, make allies, betray enemies and leave nothing the same as before they came to the scene.

About me

Hi, it's great to meet you! I have been playing and running different tabletop roleplaying games since I was little one with my Dad all the way to now and I want the opportunity to help other people have positive experiences and memories with these same games. I have experience running adventures and campaigns spanning genres from 1800s supernatural horror and mystery or high fantasy medieval adventures to steampunk gangster dramas, sci-fi expeditions and feudal Japanese political intrigue. I can also have the adventure made to be shorter or longer without railroading the players depending on what their preference is. In the end, my goal is for the players to have fun more than anything else!

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a session 0 where I will work with the players and assist them in building their characters. The only book needed is the core rulebook.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a discord account since that is how we will meet for sessions.

What David brings to the table

I embrace the Rule of Cool within the suspension of disbelief and generally keep things in as much of a narrative flow state as I can, keeping it from getting number crunchy as much as possible. I really like players being creative and clever so I can be expected to work with a player to find a way that their ideas can be implemented within the setting rather than shutting them down whenever I can but never at the expense of other players, the game is only fun if everyone has fun.

Safety

How David creates a safe table

In Session 0 Lines and Veils will be established with the group taking into account everyone's opinions. I use X, N, & O's by the player either saying the letter they want to use or by typing it in the chat which I actively monitor throughout the session for immediate refocusing as needed/requested. There will also be Lines and Veils in a document shared with all the players for them to reference as needed. If anyone has an issue that occurred during the session they can message me and talk with me about it so we can find a solution before the next session to maintain a fun and safe space for everybody.
