About the adventure

This game was made with beginners and intermediate players in mind. It is a short 3-4 hour adventure which offers plenty of opportunities for role-play and a combat encounter which encourages the use of a variety of spells and tactics, so players can be creative and have fun using most of what’s in their characters skill set. The game has two phases, phase one is role-play focused, the party arrives get debriefed and then gather information from a big cast of colourful characters. Then phase two is the boss fight.

About me

Howdy! My name is Snake or Patrick either is fine. I have been gming for over 8 years now. I have run dozens of personal games, was head of my college dnd club and after successfully running my first paid dnd game have decided to try making this my full time job. I run Theatre the mind games in dungeons and dragons fifth edition often with home-brew. The medieval fantasy setting is the one I am most comfortable with and have the most experience running but i am open to running games in alternative settings outside the forgotten realms. My priority as a dm is ensuring the players get the experience they are looking for, I tailor my games to fit all the players but make sure everyone is in the same page for a cohesive and consistent adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

I have pre-made characters available but if you wish to make your own then just create a level 5 character using the 2014 dnd 5e rules, using anything from pen and paper to dnd beyond whatever is comfortable. Please make sure to share the character sheet if you make one so I can give it a once over.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be hosted on discord so you will need a discord account, accessed via web service or through the app. I will make a sever for the game which everyone will be added to. Since the game is theatre of the mind all you need is your character sheet and some dice digital or physical. I recommend maybe having a note pad to help track if your character is behind cover, distance and other status effects which would be hard to remember or tell without visual aid.

What SnakeWizard brings to the table

I love doing voices, playing characters both comedic and serious such as cheese obsessed goblins or disillusioned angels who question the will of the gods. I do not play music as of now, maybe as I get practice In my home games I will implement it someday. My big goal though is to create a great immersive experience. I want my players to feel like they are tricksters, knights assassins and heroes and be cool or goofy. I love creating living worlds that feel real and the players are a part of. With combat I am less focused on rules and more story and cool moments and unique challenges like shifting environments, but I hope to get better at the actual mechanics of combat.

Homebrew rules

Rule of cool applies for creative applications of spells and tools along with killing blows but not for most other situations. Stealth checks such as when hiding use the enemies passive perception instead of a dc if 15. Drinking a potion is a bonus action.

Safety

How SnakeWizard creates a safe table

I cover any possible triggering content before hand, I can pause the game at any time so if anyone needs a break or wants to bring something up I highly encourage players to pause the game to, if I feel I player is uncomfortable I will also pause to check up on them. There is also a break in the middle of the game. Additionally if a player is too anxious to speak we can find a pre-agreed upon signal or they can text me during the game and I will pause try address the issue subtly depending on how the player wants the issue addressed A content warning I couldn’t find on start playing is fear of heights. The game takes place on a mountain where characters can fall to their deaths
