About the adventure
Twilight: 2000 is a roleplaying game about survival in mankind’s most desperate hour in the WWIII that never was set in the year 2000. As a player, you take on the role of someone trapped in an apocalypse-in-progress in a war-torn Poland. It might be a soldier from the now scattered US forces in Europe, but it can also be a soldier of another nationality, or even a civilian. In the fallen world of Twilight: 2000, it doesn’t matter where you come from. It’s your actions from this day forward that will define who you are. Fifty years. Five decades. Well within a human lifetime. That’s how long Poland went without foreign powers warring for their territory, terrorizing their people, or bombing their cities. Take away the entirety of the repressive communist regime, and you’re left with less than five years. Five years of hope before Poland once again became the flashpoint for another world war. Central order is a myth that died when the first nukes went off. The great military machines of the East and West have ground to a halt, laid down to die in someone else’s cemetery. The last winters were the coldest on record. The map of Poland is a historical object, a conjuration of lines that were always, we now realize, wholly imaginary. Crude embankments protect walled cities and towns fending for themselves. Trade is rare and unreliable. The heavily forested woods of Poland once again harbor monsters, though this time not those summoned from human superstition but human desperation. This is the year 2000, the twilight of civilization. What comes next no one knows. First, you must survive. Yet, in this very bleak world, there is still hope. Mere survival is not enough. In the midst of utter destruction, you can start to build something new. Rally more people to your ranks. Stake a claim and protect it. And maybe, if you live long enough, start turning the tide.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I am a forever GM by choice with 15 years of GMing experience and a storyteller at heart. For nearly half my life now I've been running games, creating worlds, and building incredible stories with friends that we still fondly recall to this day, and continue to do so in my home games. I'm a writer (I've been writing for as long as I've been GMing for fun) working on getting my first fantasy novel published, and a historian with BA's in both History and International Studies. I've loved video games and all things gaming since I was old enough to hold an N64 controller, am a huge board game geek, and a practitioner of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), so if you ever wanted a GM who actually knows how to employ a smattering of medieval weapons you've come to the right place! I'm also a certified flight instructor/commercial pilot and musician, and love smuggling my other interests into my games to add just that little extra layer of verisimilitude and uniqueness to our stories.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
During our free Session 0, we will all create characters together either using the Life Path system or the Archetypes system included in Twilight 2000. This will allow the group to discuss party strengths and weaknesses, promote roleplay ideas, and have an extra opportunity to determine if characters knew each other before the campaign start, or if they are meeting for the first time.
This will be Session 0 and character creation. Together we will go through the character creation process, decide on what kind of campaign we want play, and get to know each other a little!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you'll need is a microphone, a Discord account, and a web browser (I've found Firefox usually works best but Chrome, Opera, OperaGX, and most web browsers work just fine). We'll be using Foundry VTT which I host on my desktop and players will join through their browser via an invite link I will send out.
What John brings to the table
Ambient music is very important for me as a GM (it helps me focus and stay in the mood to fit the tone) so I will be using a Discord music bot for ambient music (volume is set individually so you can mute it if you prefer no music). I do also have a couple of VoiceMod presets for radio chatter, and will attempt my very best Polish, Russian, and other relevant accents for the game. Combat in T2K is dangerous and can be quite lethal so expect and accept that death is a part of the game and a part of our collective story. Perhaps violence is not always the answer, though sometimes it is the only option left to you. I use several Foundry VTT modules to try to get the game mechanics to flow as fluidly as possible and am always happy to take suggestions to improve our game. We will go over more in detail during the free Session 0, but expect exploration and travel, hexcrawling, tactical combat, survival elements, ethical dilemmas, and hard choices. We will build a dynamic and growing story that is player-led. Check your mags, fill your canteens, and lace up your boots!

How John creates a safe table
During our free Session 0, we will have discussions about expectations and boundaries, and I will be using the Lines and Veils system (I will explain if you're not familiar, don't worry!) and plan on having an open door policy for any discussions during or after, as well as a debrief after each session to check in with everyone. Twilight 2000 can be a pretty grim setting so I want to make sure everyone is onboard and comfortable with the goings on in game.
