About the adventure

In Chicago by Night, the city is a battleground of ancient grudges, strict traditions, and quiet brutality. Neonate Kindred arrive hungry, inexperienced, and dangerously unaware that every street, club, and feeding ground already belongs to someone powerful. Chicago’s elders rule through proxies, favors, and fear—and they are always watching. This chronicle leans into personal horror and Camarilla politics, focusing on what it means to survive your first nights under an unforgiving hierarchy. Players will navigate feeding, secrecy, and social pressure while becoming entangled in the city’s established power structures. Allies are unreliable, rivals are everywhere, and even small mistakes can carry permanent consequences. Play is roleplay-forward and character-driven, emphasizing tense conversations, moral compromise, and difficult choices over constant combat. Violence is fast and dangerous when it occurs, often leaving more problems than it solves. The story responds directly to player decisions, allowing the coterie to shape their reputation—and their fate—within Chicago’s night society. This game is ideal for players who enjoy immersive storytelling, political intrigue, and dark, grounded themes. New players are welcome and supported, while experienced VTM fans will appreciate a faithful adaptation of Chicago’s lore with room for player-driven outcomes. If you want a chronicle where survival means learning who holds power—and what it costs to challenge them—Chicago awaits.

About me

Hey everyone!! My name is Caden, and I have played role-play games for over six years. I enjoy DND and World of Darkness and hope to provide the best experience for all future players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create neonate vampires—newly embraced Kindred still learning the rules of the night and struggling with their first true taste of Hunger. Characters begin with limited power, fragile status, and very real consequences for every mistake, making growth, ambition, and survival central to the story.

What Caden brings to the table

I provide access to all required rulebooks and reference materials, so players do not need to own any Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition books to participate. Rules support and guidance are always available, especially for new players learning the system. Expect a strong focus on atmosphere and immersive roleplay. I aim to create a living, reactive version of modern New York City through evocative descriptions, character-driven scenes, and meaningful consequences. Music, tone-setting, and pacing are used to enhance tension, horror, and emotional impact without overwhelming the table. My goal is to deliver a collaborative, respectful, and engaging play experience. Sessions emphasize player agency, clear communication, and safety tools to ensure everyone is comfortable exploring dark themes. I strive to create a table where players feel invested in the story, supported as collaborators, and excited to return each week.

Safety

How Caden creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority in this game. We will use Lines and Veils to establish clear boundaries around content that is off-limits or handled off-screen, ensuring everyone knows what themes are welcome and which are not. A dedicated Session Zero will be used to discuss tone, expectations, character concepts, and safety tools before play begins. This ensures we are all aligned on the kind of story we are telling and creates a strong foundation for collaborative storytelling. We will also use Roses and Thorns as a regular check-in tool, giving players space to share what they enjoyed and what could be improved. Open communication is encouraged at all times, and players are always welcome to speak up or step away if something becomes uncomfortable.
