About the adventure

The Death Star is no more. The Empire find themselves under attack in systems they once thought safe, beset by a few small fleets that move too fast to pin down. Worlds that assist the Rebellion are subjugated and bound into servitude; but twice as many rise to replace them. For the Empire, the propaganda for conscription has become absolute, conscientious objectors brutalised by their friends and neighbours without the regime having to lift a finger. But for you rare fighters of the Rebellion, the front line was always a choice. The d6 system is simple and punchy. There are no fancy symbols, no successes to count, no class abilities to memorise. If you're outgunned, it's best to run and regroup. If you take a hit in battle, your wound won't recover until someone does something about it. But you're a hero, and if there's one thing that the last 10 years of struggle and valour have taught you, it's this: heroes can do the impossible.

About me

Hello, hello! I am Alexander the Hunter, an established Game Master with 8 years' GMing experience across more than 15 TTRPGs. There's a lot of good to be said of reading a good book, or watching a good film, but there's nothing that invigorates the soul like a group of compatriots huddled around a table telling a story together. The foundation of any successful adventure is built of buy-in, challenge, agency, and chaos. I have learned that every player has unique preferences for each category, so I make a point to practice a process of reflection with my players after every game session to learn what worked best for them. It's through listening and learning together that game groups create memories that will last a lifetime. I endeavour to create an open, inclusive environment of structured and collaborative storytelling. All killer, no filler. I do bend the rules on occasion, but only once it has become clear that the intentions of the gaming table and the intentions of the rules are at odds.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation in Star Wars d6 uses character templates, which is fast and easy. Character creation consists of two steps and can be done over the course of 10-15 minutes, usually by multiple players simultaneously. You will not need to supply your own books and reference materials. The rules will be explained in a short, free session zero one week before the first game session of the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a discord account, as well as a working microphone and speakers. High audio quality is not required, but you must be consistently clear and audible. No preexisting knowledge of any edition of Star Wars: the Roleplaying Game is required. Dice will not be required. All the tools will be managed in Discord and explained during the free Session Zero.

What Alexander the Hunter brings to the table

I bring interesting, evocative descriptions of environments and critical actions during the course of play. I ensure there are always enough new tools in play to make every action scene a distinct and engaging experience. I avoid VTTs, cameras and character building websites, and favour a simple and streamlined experience akin to the pen and paper roots of roleplaying. I reward player agency, both in allowing any reasonable action to have a chance, and in ensuring that decisions made have not only an impact on simple success/failure, but the nuances of the outcome of the adventure as a whole. I am strict on rules that limit the GM, and loose on rules that limit player creativity. I do not come with a predefined list of house rules, but I am open to propose and implement changes when the stylistic assumptions of the rules do not align with the assumptions of my players.

Safety

How Alexander the Hunter creates a safe table

I try to maintain the themes and content of the emulated work, which should provide a baseline expectation; Star Wars is the story of a scrappy coalition of militia taking on an immense, ruthless war machine, which makes up for its incompetence and internal power struggles with superior technology and underhanded tactics. I will introduce the X, N, and O cards during the start of play as emotes that can be used in the discord server. They can be used at any time to signal individual discomfort. Players will have a choice between stopping for a short discussion to best suit their needs, or to excise potentially trauma-reinforcing content without another word. My games are also played with an open door policy, meaning that players can take a break at any time and will not face ridicule or derision. I encourage players to arrive early to socialise, mandate a single short break in the middle of a game to reduce fatigue, and offer players time at the end of each game session to discuss what participants enjoyed in a game and what they would like to see more of in the future.
