About the adventure

Set in the Anarch Free States, themselves set in the deeply enthralling and corrupt Californian coast of Los Angeles, this chronicle aims to provide the grounds for a player-oriented sandbox game. Homebrew will only suit the intended gameplay and agency of those involved and kept to a minimum. If you've ever had intentions of telling a story of how your Anarch Gang rose to prominence in the History of the damned, bringing order into the chaos of its streets, or making calculated pacts with the Sabbat to prepare for the defense of their loved ones from Gehenna, this is your chronicle! What you will find: * An adaptation of Revised's Los Angeles by Night sourcebook for 20th Anniversary Edition's mechanics. * A street level ambience that will provide for the mysticism of the first time playing. Beginners welcome! * No restrictions on concept. Your Kinfolk Sorcerer was embraced by the Baali and is on the run? Sure! Advanced players welcome! * A lore-savvy Storyteller that will focus on the little things to throw curve balls when the picture gets bigger. * Compatibility with Revised content. * 5 free background dots for gang building! * Sessión 0 and 1 are free!

About me

Hello! My name is Sagy, I am a Storyteller/Game Master whose love for visceral psychological drama led to engage in the writing, direction, and of course playing of roleplaying systems such as Vampire: The Masquerade and Mage: The Ascension. Roleplaying and storytelling have been my passion ever since I was a child. However, my experience with TTRPGs spans across five years of carefully threading plot hooks and characters fit for both the GM and the players' needs for a rich and engaging story. My native tongue is Spanish, but I have spoken English for five years already. As of now, I run Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition, Mage: The Ascension Revised, Mage: The Ascension 20th Anniversary Edition and OSRs as well as FATE. On regards to the World of Darkness in specific - I am sufficiently familiar with the overarching metaplot to ST any other splat not listed, so don't fear asking me about a Hunter or Changeling chronicle! I have an open mind and a sensible approach to sensitive topics, and do not fear acommodating to the table's needs. In fact, it's been my policy as both player and ST ever since I began roleplaying!

Character creation

Creating your character

Accepting transfers on a case by case basis! Otherwise, character creation is as normal, any Merits and Flaws the player has the given sourcebook is welcome *so long as it does not come from Storytellers Vault!* Characters (especially transfers!) should be discussed in session 0 and done before the first session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players are expected to have an account on Discord to play with in voice chat or post-by-post (depending on the agreed upon format). Theatre of the mind.

What Sagy brings to the table

I will be using VtM's official soundtrack from A Beast I Am! As well as Bloodlines and, of course, the wonderful jazz tracks from World of Darkness' official YouTube channel. You will find I am a very vanilla, rules as written and rules as inteded ST, but I can be persuaded to look the other way so long as it's cool. Chimerists, Blood Sorcerers, I am *your* ST Otherwise, I have broad access to a good chunk of the game's sourcebooks. I can provide material both from Revised and 20th Anniversary.

Homebrew rules

Humanity may be gifted (or taken...). Vignettes or character-related writings may be rewarded with additional 1-3XP out of session. Vampires can learn Numina as per Sorcerer: Revised pg 121.

Safety

How Sagy creates a safe table

The World of Darkness is thrilling, fun, interesting, and all of those good things, but Vampire the Masquerade is a game that is very heavy on topics that must be discussed. I'd like for the table to come together at session 0, before setting expectations for characters and plotlines and individual lines and veils, *what is Vampire for us?* Is it about the cycle of abuse where a victim becomes their abuser, or the personal degradation from the mundanity of politics? This might look silly, but VtM has subliminal metaphors we have to clarify to ourselves before playing. To some, feeding might look like a metaphor for sexual abuse. We will streamline personal lines and veils with a pdf document. I'd like for all of us to be clear and open about our limits, without the need to justify them. I think cards are a vague tool, in my experience, they were hardly used since deciding whether one will pull an N or an X gets in the way of communicating discomfort period. We should not look forward to compromising our concerns with the ambience, if someone has a concern it must be brought up immediately due to the emotionally engaging nature of roleplay. "O cards" will be "Is everyone okay with this?", "N cards" will be "Hey, I think the conclusion of this heads towards this undesirable thing", and "X cards" will be "I need this to stop/be discussed". Anonymity is a boundary I have difficulties dealing with, and as such I can't promise I am the kind of Storyteller with whom ignorance of the affected party works. A message with the set rules, and any future appendixes and spontaneous agreements will be pinned in the main out of character channel for reference. There will always be the golden rule: Don't be a weirdo.
