About the adventure

This is made to be an inclusive and beginner friendly game. All players who join will have a free session 0 with the crew if you start at launch, or a free one on one to get you caught up before you are thrown in. Inspired heavily by Obojima, the Monster of the Week style of games, and my own experience going to college in a small Texas town comes this cozy summer gone wrong when everyone you love is in danger. We focus mostly on stories in one town, building bonds with loved ones, facing mistakes we made in the past, and dealing with the repercussions of every action. In this world, big magic (leveled spells) are outlawed due to a dangerous war with magic beings in the past. Instead, the local inventor, Dr. Eckleberg, has been able to revive relics of the pre magic war time. We have simple 1980's technology (Think walkmans, radio, etc) that makes life just a touch easier. The story takes place on the outskirts of the island continent, and is somewhat isolated by the dense forest around the town. It is a lively place when the magical university is in session, but the students have since left for the summer, leaving the village in its slow time. Even those who work are mostly without responsibilities and jovial. Everything changes when monsters from the forest start to attack. They typically move with precision, and only a select few are in the know of what is really going on. With the help of the right townsfolk who are acting as monster hunting vigilantes, and mystical entities beyond the veil in the spirit realm, a group of rag tag heroes may be able to find the source of these horrors and end them.

About me

Queer DM based out of Denver, CO. I've been playing since high school, took the mantle of GM after college in 2016 and never looked back. Been running multiple campaigns and one shots at the professional level since 2023. Very beginner friendly, and love to explore all systems out there. I run games focusing on riddles, puzzles, roleplay, etc. The idea is to make it a fun challenge that you can't just roll dice through. That goes both ways though. Feel free to come up with the clever solution to keep me on my toes. Always looking for a new way to push myself out of my creative comfort zone. Feedback is always very welcome, as the goal is to cater to the party's interests as much as possible. I understand that my job is to ensure that you have the best time playing

Character creation

Creating your character

I want to know: Player Name: Character Name and Pronouns: Experience Level: Triggers: What you want out of this game: Basic info about your character: What would your main quest be: Friends: Enemies: A mistake you need to fix (Can be DM'd to me rather than being public): Connections to other players:

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will talk in Session 0, but we will realistically be running in either Foundry VTT, Shard, or Roll 20. I will keep players aware of anything they need to know. No need to pay for any accounts. Discord will be used as our method of calling during the games, and chat to remind of upcoming games or any notes outside

What Tanner brings to the table

We want to make sure we stick to the rules, but if a fun moment arises, we can move to rule of cool it a bit. I want to make sure each player gets their time in the spotlight, and want an arc to cover a character's growth

Safety

How Tanner creates a safe table

I make sure to get details before we start to avoid any triggers, and have X N and O cards available. As well, we foster an environment where a player should never feel ashamed to say if they want to fade to black, or can personally DM me and we will fade out. If aftercare is needed, I am always available for it
