About the adventure
The Elder Scrolls: Gaol Using the Indie UESRPG d100 System (Unofficial Elder Scrolls RPG) Fifty years after the Dragonborn changed the fate of Skyrim, the Empire is still clawing for survival. The Emperor rules through shadows and compromise, and the Thalmor remains entrenched in Imperial politics. To maintain control and expand its reach, the Empire has begun a ruthless experiment: the Penal Battalions. Criminals, deserters, and dissidents are gathered, branded, and forged into expendable companies—marched into danger where loyal soldiers cannot be spared. You are one of these condemned souls. The law says you have forfeited your freedom. The Legion says you may earn it back with blood. Your first tasks seem simple: put down bandits, root out hedge-mages, and hunt witches. Survive, and you may win not only your freedom but a place among the Emperor’s hidden “Mananauts”—those who walk the realms beyond Nirn. Fail, and your death is nothing more than the fulfillment of your sentence. This is a game about survival, choice, and the weight of freedom in the Elder Scrolls setting. You may find and even play flawed people thrust into impossible situations—sometimes heroic, often desperate. The story will blend the politics of the Empire, the danger of the Daedric, and the tangled web of Elder Scrolls metaphysics. Expect themes of oppression, faith, betrayal, and the cost of power. Mature topics are present, including the racism that runs throughout Tamriel’s cultures. Players are expected to handle these topics thoughtfully and respectfully; this game is for those comfortable with exploring darker, more morally complex storytelling. The Elder Scrolls: Gaol welcomes both veterans of Elder Scrolls lore and newcomers eager to dive into its mythic world. Knowledge of the games is helpful but not required—what matters most is a willingness to step into your character, to engage with the setting, and to shape your fate among the condemned prisoners. If you enjoy roleplaying in morally gray settings, facing challenges where victory is never guaranteed, and exploring the high fantasy of Tamriel this campaign is for you.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi, I'm Cloudheart! I'm a storyteller, worldbuilder, and Game Master who has a past in Video Game Design and Programming. We currently livestream three ongoing campaigns weekly on Twitch.TV/CloudheartTV: - Pathfinder 2e Kingmaker: Misfits — a chaotic kingdom-building journey through the wild Stolen Lands. - TABRA: The Tale of the Meta-Gamers - an equal parts comedy and drama filled isekai journey in a JRPG-fare land beset by the Demon King. - Elder Scrolls: Gaol - a gritty take on the world and lore of The Elder Scrolls series following a group of prisoners forcibly converted into Penal Soldiers for the Empire of Cyrodiil. I focus on weaving player choices deeply into the narrative, making sure your characters genuinely impact the world around them, and the world impacts *you*. Our games explore mature themes — including survival, politics, and personal struggle — always handled with respect for the players and the story. If you’re looking for a table where storytelling, worldbuilding, and player agency take center stage, I’d love to have you join the journey!

Creating your character
Players will create their character during the first session, we will go over rules, do a Session 0 to establish Veil and Lines, and when we will meet (i.e. how many players need to show up a session, what time, etc.) "Starting Level" as a concept doesn't quite apply for the system but players will start with 3000 CrP (Character Creation Points) and x Drakes (Septims/Gold) to purchase items. Players will be given access to our community discord and a subsection only visible to them. All officially currently available "Scrolls" (reference pdfs) and the Core Rulebook may be used. I will provided PDFS if necessary but they publically accessible for free on Google Docs. Characters are severely limited on Drakes/Items for character creation for sake of setting/context (starting as a prisoner, not adventurer).
No Party Notes as of Yet.
