About the adventure
A future where Earth governments didn't go into the stars as a united humanity, but the political tensions and borders just continued. Many new systems and worlds have settlements from different governments from Earth, as well as large corporations that rival and work like criminal organizations. I'm aiming for more of a tone like Firefly, but themes of Dark Matter. This is a game of piracy, so expect pirate tropes and such. We will also be building characters at the start, so just come in with a quick concept.

About me
I've been playing for roughly 25 years, and have played and run so many different games, from Vampire the Masquerade to D&D 3.5 to FATE Core. If you are looking for a GM with experience, I am right here.

Creating your character
Bring a character concept, and we will build characters at the start of the game. FATE doesn't have a long or involved character creation, but it likes characters that have a connected background. Possible concepts include piloits, navigators, fighters, stowaways, technicians, doctors, pretty much anything is available. The basic idea with the worlds is that governments and corporations have gone into the stars and created settlements. It's rare to see an entire planet controlled by one entity, unless it's the Red Queen Mercantile. There are agriculture, manufacturing, mining, or luxury settlements, and they are constantly being fought over. So building a character from any of these settlements can work just fine.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a microphone to communicate. Reading the rules isn't necessary, but knowing where to find them is. https://fate-srd.com is all the books online. I also ask that they bring their own snacks.
What Jason brings to the table
Fate is really elastic when it comes to Rule of Cool, so I don't mind bending where needed. As for what kind of style, I am very much Theater of the Mind, but I like using Google docs to share information and character sheets.
Homebrew rules
I love a good description of something awesome in the game. If you can give me an amazing description with awesome sound effects and it makes other players cheer, there could be some extra points headed your way.

How Jason creates a safe table
I try not to have many controversial topics in my games, but they do come up. And while I don't exactly prescribe to a set of tools for safety, I do encourage someone to speak up and let me know if something is a problem. And if you want me to use a specific safety set, please let me know ASAP so I can look into how to use it.
