About the adventure
Wraith: Cold Comfort is a story of vengeance long overdue. A serial killer claimed you as a victim (in a manner of your choosing at character creation) and took from you a trophy. For so long have you wandered the Shadowlands, beset by grief you're unable to process. Your frustration and fury at the one who wronged you, robbed you of life's potential, has remained impotent in the face of fighting simply to exist. But now, your chance has come. Word has spread that he was captured, executed, and is now in the hereafter with you. A soul like his, however, is a trophy, claimed by the highest bidder. To reclaim the piece of you he stole, and to have any chance at peace, you and other victims must gather your strength and get to him. In Wraith players are entities trapped in the afterlife, unable to move on, tethered to lost potential, purpose, or loved ones. Every character also has a Shadow, the dark side of them working to ensure their damnation and to thwart their attempts to achieve any manner of peace. Each player will play their own character and another player's Shadow. Given this type of setting and the interaction of PCs and Shadows, expectations will be clearly set. Dramatic and engaging interaction is encouraged, roleplay within the confines of our personal limits is crucial. Mature adults only. Players looking to ruin someone's game experience are not welcome. Safety tools will be strictly enforced. Wraith, by design, raises situations in which characters are at odds and actively working against each other. That does not mean the player's goals are always opposed. Consider how your character might fail, what temptations might bring them down, and let that inform how your Shadow should behave and allow yourself to explore a potentially exciting and disastrous outcome.

About me
My name is Chris and I've been running games consistently for the past ten years, with periodic games for the fifteen years prior. My preferred systems are World of Darkness and Call of Cthulhu, and I currently run games of both Vampire: The Masquerade and Call of Cthulhu for friends. I also have a few years experience with Mage: The Awakening, 2nd Edition. My games have run from one-shots to multi-year campaigns. While I have run modules, such as Masks of Nyarlathotep or Horror on the Orient Express, my games are primarily written by myself. I much prefer theater of the mind to miniatures and tactical games.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place in the free session 0 using the Wraith 20th Anniversary rulebook. Pregenerated characters will be available.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord will host our voice/video and will be used for safety tools and player communication. Foundry/Forge will host our character sheets and dice. A webcam and microphone are required. Character sheets and physical dice are preferred, but for accessibility I will also have a Foundry server available to host characters/shadows and provide dice.
What Chris brings to the table
We are using the Wraith setting and ruleset. This is a game of horror roleplay and a way to explore potentially intense scenes, but we will lay clear ground rules for behavior. Wraith: 20th is a massive tome full of lore. As a shorter campaign, we won't be getting into the depth of the system, instead focusing on what makes the characters tick and how they carry out their goals. We will begin with base level characters and then a chunk of xp to spend as you like to flesh yourself out some more, so to speak.

How Chris creates a safe table
Discord will host a safety channel for topics that are not to be used in-game as well as areas that require care. During the game we will have the X card. Play can be stopped and a break taken if someone needs to address a concern or buttons start getting pushed. Wraith requires care.
