About the adventure
You have formed a new bond with other adventurers working as guards for a merchant taking his wares south. It was an easy enough job to get you to the coastal towns. There you have heard of wealth and glory to be found on the islands south of there. Perhaps you can hire a ship to take you to one to try your luck. Black Ridge Island is one of the largest of the hundreds of islands left after the southern continent shattered in the cataclysmic war a millennia ago. A city sits on its Western side, but few who venture into the island’s interior survive to tell its tale. Those that do return speak of monsters huge and small. Underground labyrinths and treasures, ripe for the taking. A job posting leads you to another mysterious group led by Garath to search for a lost artifact. His group has scouted parts of the island and knows just where to send you so you won’t be in over your head. You’re fresh out of your training, still trying to get your boots wet, so to speak. Do you take the job or seek another way south? I run a dangerous, fast paced campaign where you need to use all your skills and a little luck to survive. Whether it be battle, diplomacy, bypassing traps or solving a mysterious puzzle, this is a campaign you will remember for years to come. I reward players for innovative thinking, and good role-playing. Expect the unusual and come explore a new world with me. All players are welcome, especially women and new players. I do not allow bullies in my games, and I always make sure everyone feels comfortable and has a chance to shine. Finally, I keep out sexual, political and religious (real world) discussions out of my games. We are here to have fun in a fantasy setting, let's do that.

I have been a DM for over 40 years and run multiple campaigns. I started my own gaming company over 10 years ago and love playing games and writing new adventures for my players.

Creating your character
Characters will be created in session 0 (free) using the point buy system. We will be using the 2014 rule system. Some pregens will be available also if you prefer. We will discuss play styles, what's expected and what you expect of me. Back stories can be created on your own time and added as we go along. Everyone will start as a 1st level character but will level up quickly. Some basic Pre-gens will be provided for those who prefer that.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing on Roll20 and using my Discord server to talk. You will need to have a free membership on both of those. You will need a microphone. Also, plan what type of character you wish to build. We will be using the Character-mancer in Roll 20.
What Ben brings to the table
Our combats can be intense and the monsters use tactics and think. While we try and stick to RaW (rules as written) the Rule of Cool is always in effect. I do character voices (I try my best). I keep the game moving and always make sure everyone has a chance to do what they want to do. I do NOT allow bullying, telling other players what to do, or players trying to do everything.
Homebrew rules
Monsters are not always what you expect. Many are modified and many are new. Otherwise, we can discuss any home brew rules as we play. We are all here to have a good time.

How Ben creates a safe table
As mentioned I don't allow bullies. I'll stop the game down for any action that is inappropriate. Players are always free to stop me as well. If you feel we are straying into uncomfortable situations or anyone says something out of line, you can whisper me an X and we will deal with it and make sure it doesn't happen. I've been doing this a long time with hundreds of different players. Age, gender, orientation and more will dictate the boundaries and we will all respect those. We will cover all of that in session 0.
