About me

Hi, I’m Charles! I’m a Filipino-Chinese nerd hopelessly addicted to the art of Tabletop Roleplaying Games. Like any good monomyth, the tale of my nerdom started in some obscure corner of 2010s nerd youtube space and ever since then, this hobby has only consumed more and more of my life. I started playing around 6 years ago, hosting my own school hobby club. This first club is where I would unfortunately but necessarily make all the mistakes I had to be a good game master. (Sometimes I jolt awake at night remembering my player’s soulless faces as I spent the 3rd straight session in a row explaining each and every rule in the D&D 5th edition’s player’s handbook.) Since then, I’ve steadily increased my skill as a GM. When I transferred to a new school, I was excited to hear that there already was a TTRPG group. During my time with this new group, I was able to expand my horizons and play different TTRPGs aside from 5e namely, Monster of the Week and City of Mist. My world was even further expanded and I felt the same electrical excitement I did when I first learned of what a TTRPG is. After graduating, I’ve only continued to delve into other TTRPGs. I joined online communities and participated in the discourse around the hobby. I’ve continued to host games of different kinds, getting better at improvisation and taking lessons from my mistakes with every game that I play.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will follow Mothership's default rules. I recommend using the randomized loadouts and rolling with the character that you were given by the tables. If you've any questions, shoot me a message!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

In terms of VVTs or materials, I have everything prepared. I mainly use theatre of the mind in my games so all you need to do is simply join the server and be in the lounge on time. Please join the discord server below! It's where my past players gather and where the session will be hosted. https://discord.gg/p5ZWf6PG

What Charles brings to the table

Throughout the game, I will be playing music from scifi-horror games to set the tone of the session. If the need arises, I will also use visual aids such as pictures or references. Overall, however, I expect it to be a purely theater of the mind experience where the horror comes from what you can imagine.

Safety

How Charles creates a safe table

We'll be using the X-cards in our games to prevent bad scenes from continuing. Alongside this, I will be giving aftercare to ensure that every player had a good experience and to check if there was any problems that may need to be dealt with. I'll be very forward as well with the content warnings within the game to make sure we all know what horror experience we're getting.
