About the adventure
*Content Warning: Graphic Content and Coarse Language used. This campaign is intended for adults 18+* *A woman approaches you, her scarred, but youthful face is betrayed by the age that hides in her sharp, predatory eyes* Welcome to Albuquerque, licks. You seem new to this unlife, maybe even new to the âBurque. I'll let you in on a few things, so youâre not fucking it up for the rest of us, and I wonât even expect a favor in return, this time. This is my favorite city. The culture, the art, and the people... the warm, delectable people⊠You wonât find a better place for us Anarchs to play out our nights, in relative peace and freedom. âRelativeâ is the key word here, though, because you gotta remember the mortals, or kine as we call them, donât believe in us, at least they are doing their best to ignore it, and itâs best to keep it that way. Those blue-blooded, Camarilla bastards in Santa Fe call it the âMasqueradeâ, I call it being smart so we can go on existing another night. What are we? Man, you are fresh. Well, we are vampires, to put it plainly. Youâll hear other words to label us, the most common are Kindred and Lick, which is my personal favorite. Though the real thing we are is monsters. We drink blood, thereâs no other way around it if you want to wake up tomorrow night, and we do that by feeding on people. Sure, you could drink from the wildlife, or from the blood banks, if you can stomach it⊠We drink it to keep our beast, the monster that claws at our insides quiet. At the end of the night, your continued existence hinges on the sweet and powerful food that the Kine provide. And provide they do, the âBurque is a great place for all palettes and desires, just do your best not to kill. If you do, you may get to see one last sunrise, courtesy of our faceless Baron who rules from the shadows. Thereâs ample amounts of food, but once your beast is sated, what else is there to do? Whatever you want, within reason of course. The nightlife here is quality for sure, clubs, museums, art co-ops, oddities to see, and plenty of wilderness for the adventurous types. Just be careful about the wild, there are scarier things than us out there, and I donât just mean the werewolf clans that we have a VERY tenuous peace with. Yeah, you heard me, werewolves are real⊠Spoiler alert: so are vampires. Mages, demons, and all manner of things that go bump in the night, too. Just watch your backs. Speaking of that, the last thing I want to tell you, fresh punks? Donât do the whole lone-wolf thing. Brooding in the dark may be well and good, but when youâve accidentally crossed the wrong Kindred, or a hunter comes a-knockin', youâll be grateful to have a couple of licks you can rely on to take the stake out of your not-beating heart. Donât go trusting us, that would just be plain dumb, but a coterie isnât something to turn your fangs away from. Being alone and watching the mortals rot around us isnât all that itâs cracked up to be.

About me
For two decades, the tapestry of storytelling has been my life's work. It's not merely a hobby, but a passionate pursuit to craft worlds where the extraordinary becomes reality. My greatest joy lies in witnessing players step into these realms, not as passive observers, but as architects of their own destinies. I've dedicated myself to building environments where they can explore, thrive, and transform into the heroes, rogues, or scholars their hearts envision. Whether it's scaling impossible peaks, unraveling ancient mysteries, or forging alliances that shape the fate of kingdoms, I champion their every aspiration, ensuring their tales echo through the ages. My journey has been one of constant learning, a deep dive into the intricate machinery of tabletop role-playing. Iâve explored dozens of systems, each a unique lens through which to view the art of collaborative narrative. From the gritty realism of one system to the fantastical whimsy of another, I've honed my ability to discern the perfect fit for each group, each story, each player. Understanding the nuances of different storytelling styles allows me to tailor experiences that resonate deeply, ensuring every participant feels seen and empowered. I've learned that a true storyteller doesn't dictate the path, but illuminates the possibilities, guiding players toward the epic goals they set for themselves. This love for the hobby, far from diminishing over the years, has only intensified. It's a living, breathing passion that continues to evolve, weaving itself ever more deeply into the fabric of my life. To share this passion, to invite others into the worlds I've painstakingly crafted, is a privilege I cherish. I am eager to see the stories you will write, the characters you will embody, and the adventures we will embark on together. Let us forge legends that will be told and retold for years to come, and I will be there, every step of the way, to celebrate your triumphs and champion your dreams.
View Profile âCharacter creation
Creating your character
We will have a session zero to go over character creation. For our potential newcomers, a session zero is a pre-roleplaying session, to build characters, meet me(your Story Teller or ST), and introduce yourselves as a group, or "coterie" in VTM terms. Our session zero will involve the creation of not only characters, but also connections your characters have to each other, other kindred in the world, mortals who keep you connected to your fading humanity, and even locations that have importance to your characters. These will be basic foundations that we can build on throughout our story. You won't need to have hard details in mind, and we will do all of this as a group to help build that connection to each other's characters. The goal to all of this being to help ease us into the role-playing side of our story at Session 1. My Foundry server is built with the World of Darkness system and further customized tools, made by the wonderful Foundry Community. Content on the server is also customized by me to help create an easy step-by-step process to develop characters and explore everyone's options. For new players, that means you will not need to know anything beforehand. I will happily walk you through how to build your character and how to play Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition. For experienced players, I welcome you to come to the table with existing ideas. All concepts will need to be subject to lines and veils that the group will discuss together. You will be playing Anarchs on the streets of Albuquerque. I chose and researched this city because of its colorful heritage, history, and culture, and bringing that into the world is always welcome. No existing knowledge of the city is necessary, but if you wish to have existing knowledge of Albuquerque, it is encouraged for immersion. Any details you may research about the city may need to be adjusted to fit our fictional version of the city
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a computer or laptop with an updated browser to access my self-hosted FoundryVTT server. I have had success with Chrome, but I have not heard of any browser having particular issues. FoundryVTT is a virtual table where we will be able to manage our characters, keep notes, and find anything game-related in one place. It should not require any further downloads outside of an updated browser. You will also need to download Discord to join my Discord server, where we will have access to a dedicated channel to discuss the campaign and a voice chat for our sessions. This will also be where I post the link to my FoundryVTT server on our game nights. No previous knowledge of the rules is necessary, I will be happy to introduce and teach new players. However, it can enhance your enjoyment if you have a rudimentary understanding of the basics beforehand.
What CaptPanDad / Dan brings to the table
Theater of the Mind games are my specialty. I have been running TotM games, in many different systems for the better part of 20 years, and Vitae of Albuquerque is a world that I am excited to experience with you. I have experience with the Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG and LARP across multiple versions of the system, 5th edition being my favorite iteration. I have built many locations, story characters, and done a fair amount of research on my city of choice for our campaign. Though my real talent lies in building the world as we play, creating an experience and story that reacts and evolves with your characters. I am excited to share this sandbox-style campaign, which is intended to explore a world of monsters, in a safe environment. I am also an avid believer in the Rule of Cool, allowing you to go beyond the bounds of the rules when the story is enhanced by your desired actions. Bending the rules of the system to have those awesome moments is commonplace at my tables.
Homebrew rules
There are no intended homebrew rules at this time. However, I am a very hands-on ST, and if a mechanic isn't working, or someone has a creative concept for their character, I am very skilled at homebrewing on the fly. I definitely encourage the Rule of Cool.

How CaptPanDad / Dan creates a safe table
Player safety at my tables is one of my top priorities. My goal is to use the tools in my Storyteller toolbox to make sure everyone at our table is having a fun time, while making sure that our exploration of playing monsters doesnât cause severe discomfort. Some of the tools I intend to use are: Aftercare is used to make sure that at the end of each session, we do a check-in and allow everyone to have their voice heard by the group. Because when we are telling stories of trauma and monsters, being mindful of Bleed will always be a good practice for all of us at the table. Breaks, are super important for everyone. Giving the opportunity to use the bathroom, get water, or even step away to take a breath. This will be a heavy role-play campaign, and we will have one guaranteed break about halfway through, and anyone can step away or request a short break as needed. Lines & Veils, and Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist are two concepts that will work in tandem, giving you all an opportunity to voice privately to me, or to the whole group if desired, your personal boundaries. I will always do my best to make sure that any boundaries you set are kept to by myself and the rest of the group. I have an open door policy. My Discord dmâs are always open, and even if I am not immediately available or online, I definitely encourage all to reach out to me with any questions or needs. I will strive to get back to everyone as expeditiously as possible. Session 0 will be a one-time non-roleplay session where we will all gather together for the first time and build your coterie together, discuss the world your characters will play out their unlife, and discuss personal boundaries with the group. I encourage folks to come to the table with any questions they may have for me, or even the other coterie members. X Card; This will be a button in the Foundry VTT server, I will go over how to use it. It will display an âX Cardâ on the screen for everyone to see. I will pause the scene as soon as I see it and we can discuss the need in that moment, or just move on from the topic or scene at hand if need be. My other major tool for players' safety is knowledge. I have seen much of the sordid history that Vampire: the Masquerade has experienced, and my love for the system is not without knowing that it has had low points in its lifetime. To that end, I want to express that while we are playing monsters in the game, I do expect the players to show humanity at the table. There is no hate allowed at the table or in my Discord Server, against any person based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race, disability, or any trait that makes someone an individual human.
