About the adventure
Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus is a dark fantasy campaign set in one of the Sword Coast’s most infamous cities, where ambition, corruption, and desperation collide. Baldur’s Gate is a place of sharp contrasts: immense wealth beside crushing poverty, noble ideals masking ruthless self-interest, and laws enforced as often by coin as by justice. Players begin grounded in this tense urban environment, navigating power struggles, criminal networks, and moral gray areas where doing the “right” thing is rarely simple. As the story unfolds, the campaign expands beyond familiar streets into realms shaped by eternal conflict and impossible choices. The tone blends high-stakes adventure with personal consequence, emphasizing moral pressure, temptation, and the cost of compromise. Allies may have hidden motives, enemies may offer tempting bargains, and survival often demands more than brute strength. This is a setting where ideals are tested, not rewarded, and where conviction can be both a shield and a liability. Themes of redemption, sacrifice, and responsibility run throughout the campaign. Characters are challenged not only by external threats, but by who they choose to become when faced with fear, power, and uncertainty. Heroism is possible, but it is never easy—and every decision leaves a mark. Players who enjoy rich roleplay, meaningful choices, and a world that reacts to their actions will find a campaign that rewards engagement and thoughtful play. Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus is ideal for players seeking a dramatic, atmospheric experience that balances intrigue, exploration, and intense combat. You're invited to step into a morally complex story where courage is measured not by victory alone, but by what you are willing to stand for when the pressure is greatest.

About me
=== Sick Games === My name is Marcus. I've been GM-ing games for about 15 years. I started with D&D and soon after I started playing other TTRPGs. I love tailoring player experiences and providing unexpected narrative pay-offs. I do my best to balance roleplay, tactics, and player characters' personal stories. I offer tables that prioritize mutual respect, well-balanced gameplay, and tailor-made experiences. My past players say my games are immersive and evenly paced; I do my best to make sessions feel cinematic. I expect players at my tables to be respectful, curious, and willing to engage with the story.

Creating your character
We will have a session 0 to discuss character creation. We will use the 2024 Player's Handbook and roll for stats.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Read through chapters 1-4 of the 2024 Player's Handbook. Make sure you have Discord installed and a microphone and headphones connect to a desktop/laptop - the Virtual Tabletop does not support mobile functionality.
What Sick brings to the table
I fully embrace the use of character voices, but I don't expect players to do so. I stick to the rules as written for the most part, but will veer into the rule of cool when it appropriately serves the narrative. Combat will be intense, but fair - although it is possible to get in over your heads if you're reckless.
Homebrew rules
I stick to the rules as written.
