About the adventure

Welcome to the world of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms! The year is 295 AC; Robert Baratheon has been King of the Seven Kingdoms for the past twelve years and, as far as everyone can tell, the Realm is thriving... but in the shadows, plots abound. Great and Minor Lords alike vie for more wealth, more fame, more power... Those who have read the novels or seen the show know that in the next few years the War of Five Kings will begin. In the North, an ancient evil stirs, and in the East, Danaerys will hatch her eggs and magic will return to the world... but will it all happen the same? Players will create a Home House, set in one of the regions of Westeros, and guided by their own ambitions will, potentially, change the course of history in Westeros... for the better or for the worse? Join us and find out! ------------------------------ This game will be, for the most part, a sandbox experience. I will weave in some of the pre-written adventures here and there including "The Wedding Knight," "The Iron Plot," "Peril at King's Landing", and eventually "The Dragon's Hoard" but always modified to fit the Player's House and history to maximize personalization. In session zero we will create our house and it's history (which is actually a really fun process!) and then create characters related to that House. More in the character creation section.

About me

I'm someone who's always been into creative and roleplaying games in someway or another for as long as I can remember. I started in play by post and played that for more than 20 years before I even started exploring dice-driven table-top RPGs. I feel in love immediately and as soon as I got a grasp on a system I tried to run it myself. I started by running a custom campaign of Star Wars by Fantasy Flight. Since then I've run games of DnD 5e, the Alien Cinematic Scenarios, Cyberpunk RED, Star Trek Adventures, and Marvel's Multiverse. I'm currently learning SIFRP and the One Ring system. Part of the reason that I love DMing is that I'm obsessed with story telling and involving others in the story. At some point I'd like to create games like these or perhaps even become a writer myself. Things are up in the air right now; all I know is that I want to do more, DM more, and tell more stories.

Character creation

Creating your character

This game emphasizes the House almost as much as individual characters, which is part of what makes this so immersive in the world of Westeros. We will create the House first and work on it's history and place in the world and then create the characters. We will be playing members of House, be they members of the noble family or knights that serve the Lord of the House. I will be asking that all player characters be 18 or older, just to avoid uncomfortable moments. We will be picking from one of the following regions: - The Crownlands - The Mountains of the Moon - The Reach - The Riverlands - The Stormlands - The Westerlands Dorne, the North, and the Iron Islands are sadly a bit difficult to involve with most stories within Westeros due to them primarily existing on the outskirts and being concerned more with their own problems than the problems of the rest of the Realm as a whole.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Though being familiar with the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin or the HBO series "A Game of Thrones" would help immerse yourself in this world, it's not strictly necessary. All you need is an account with Discord and Roll20 and a working microphone.

What Locke brings to the table

I will provide discord and a game in roll20 as well as links to sites that provide a wealth of knowledge for playing the game, meaning no books needed!

How Locke creates a safe table

In session zero, the players and I will have a detailed conversation about their expectations and the world they are about to inhabit, and take note of what lines players have and do my absolute best to make sure that those lines and veils are respected.
