About the adventure

The Isle of Mith is a beacon of hope to the world. A democratic country of wealth, courage, and safety, it's a nigh utopia for its citizens. Well, that is until one night. When the Gate of Night reverses its flow and undead flow out of Noxium into the world. Following these shades are the infernus, the fiends residing in Infernum. Together, they seem bent on destroying this island, and only the assistance of heroes from far away can save it. But that's all meaningless. I mean, you have just decided to visit a tavern to spend some gold on food and drink. There's just a nice dwarf over sitting next to the fire, telling stories about this supposed island. You might walk over and listen for a few minutes, but, it's not like the island matters, or that the story is... Real. The story starts at level five, and goes to level eight. The players will play through the Fall of Mith, a custom campaign designed by yours truly. There is a lot of challenging combat, a decent amount of RP, and little in the way of puzzles.

About me

I run games and publish content. I could go into more detail, but you're looking for a DM, not a story, that comes during the game. My greatest strengths are mechanics and adventures. I am very well versed in the mechanics of the game and classes. I stick close to the RaW but I'm not opposed to bending some rules.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will have point buy and start at level five. We'll meet up and make all the characters in a session 0, unless the party wishes to have them made before hand, but that's up to the party. If you desire to work with the other players on your backstory that can be discussed with them on the discord server, or during session 0. (I'll be there as well, of course.) Your character being in the Sword Coast at the campaign's start will be required, it will open in the Waterdeep, an easy city for anyone to find a reason to be in.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a mic with either a quiet place or push to talk through Discord. The player sheets will be stored on Roll20. Rolls will take place through Roll20's dice rolling on chat. (Beyond20 is also acceptable.)

What Tim brings to the table

Access to all WoTC content (that's been published on Roll20) through the compendium. As well as numerous side quests, story arcs, and I'll admit, some wit, that has come from my many years of DMing. (Don't worry, you won't get anything from the early years... Or as I call them... The dark times.)

Safety

How Tim creates a safe table

There will be roleplaying in every session. There is a lot of talking to NPCs, finding out what exactly is going on in the campaign. Combat will be fairly common but parts are certainly dependent on the party. There are, of course, unavoidable fights, but many are also avoidable by the party's actions. And while the combat will be challenging, I will adjust it to the party so you don't need to min-max everything to stand a chance. (But a warrior with 10 str and 10 dex would be ill-advised.) Outright puzzles will be uncommon. However there will be riddles at times, and quite a bit of piecing together information to get the full picture of what's going on in the campaign. There will be normal fantasy violence, taverns, and other things you'll find in your average adventure-filled fantasy world. You might find bodies, trapped people, and poor innocents in poor situations. You won't be finding anything beyond a PG-13 movie though. The game is open to even the most inexperienced of players. I can help you with making your character or you can do it on your own. As well as I'll clarify any rules and such for you all.
