About the adventure
This one-shot is a race against time to reach your settlement before the Umbral Wind overtakes you. If it catches you, you’re gone. Forever. It takes place in the Age of Umbra campaign frame. Characters in this one-shot have a higher chance of dying, but if they survive, you’ll be able to use them in the upcoming campaign (if you want to). This is a free one-shot designed to show you what a session in the full campaign will be like: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmj1v6s9100pfk404k67mbcm9?ref=clt4vb1bd0002yqnhil6uemsf You’re not obligated to join the campaign if you play in the one-shot. Feel free to just join for a fun session.

About me
🇬🇧 English Hello! I’m Ed Orta (Edoardo, full name), a software developer by day and a Game Master/TTRPG enthusiast by night. I’m currently running two campaigns: a D&D 5e game set in a homebrew world inspired by Classical Greece and Theros, and a high fantasy adventure with the Daggerheart system. Over the years I’ve also run many one-shots in a wide range of settings—historical, steampunk, Irish folklore, high fantasy, Lord of the Rings-inspired, and more. I love taking inspiration from films and books to add unexpected twists, and you might even discover some fun easter eggs hidden in my sessions! 🇮🇹 Italiano Ciao!

Creating your character
You don’t need to create a character for this adventure, but you can if you want to. There will be a set of pre-made characters available, so you can jump straight into the story and roleplay from the start. Available Characters: Marlowe Fairwind, Loreborne Elf Sorcerer – Calm until provoked, personal mage to King Emeris, and the one who brings the party together. Barnacle, Underborne Ribbet Rogue – Fearless in danger, but terrified of water. Masters getting in and out of trouble. Garrick Reed, Highborne Human Warrior – Approaches conflict with a “kill ‘em with kindness” attitude. Khari Nix, Ridgeborne Giant Guardian – Loyal, no-nonsense, and practically born to wield an axe. Varian Soto, Wildborne Katari Ranger – Shoots first, asks questions later; a bow-focused problem solver.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Once your character is set up, we'll play on Alchemy VTT, a browser-based VTT where you'll need just a free account to play. We'll use that for voice and video too. We'll use Discord for the community and feedback.
What Ed Orta brings to the table
I'll set up each session with a five-arch structure in mind, consisting of around 2 fights, 2 roleplay scenes, and 1 environment/exploration scene. As I set up the scene, you'll see images, music, and other complementary staff. And, of course, battle maps for the fights.

How Ed Orta creates a safe table
There is always the open door rule. And the safe word is "Emily is not in Paris". We'll go over star and wishes after the session.
