About the adventure

A real world LitRPG adventure using D&D 5e! For fans of "Dungeon Crawler Carl," "Off to Be the Wizard" and other litRPG books who want to live through a system apocalypse invasion. The small fishing town of Coast Town has held a secret that even the residents didn't know about. Nearly a century ago, a strange artifact washed up on shore. The residents put it in the local museum, not knowing what else to do with it. They had no idea that the artifact was from another dimension, and actively sought out by powerful magic users. Now, one such powerful magic users has found a way to breach into our world and flood it with enough magic to encapsulate Coast Town so his minions can find the artifact. Fortunately, a powerful god has noticed this incursion and sent aid to stop it. That aid is in the form of powering up locals to be able to fight against the evil! This game is an ideal starting point for people new to D&D or seasoned veterans. We will be playing using the 2014 rules, as I have everything released for it except Planescape on DNDBeyond. You will make standard array starting characters, but you wont' start play as them. You will start play as a commoner in Coast Town who gets empowered to fight against the encroaching evil and slowly gain your powers over the first session as you get acclimated to the system that is invading.

About me

I'm a TTRPG collector and ForeverDM looking to play more games than I already do. I'm especially looking to play the massive amount of indie games I've been collecting. My "favorite games" section in my profile is filled with games I can start running with little to no prep because I know them so well. I can run almost anything, so if there is something you and your group want to try then send me a message!

Character creation

Creating your character

Create your characters in any form you want, but you will be filling out character sheets on Roll20. You can use anything from any WotC published book, and I will double check to make sure we all start at the same power level. If you don't have a character we can build one together before the game starts!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be playing on Roll20 with voice and text on Discord. Make sure you already have an account on both of those services. I will send invite codes when you join.

What -Jasen brings to the table

I try to do character voices, emphasis on try. My GM style is very old school where I present the situation and then you tell me how you interact with the world around you. I will spend a lot of time being quiet until necessary and taking notes. Rule of Cool is definitely in play. Since this game is a system-apocalypse-type LitRPG story, I encourage you to try to break the system in any way you can.

Homebrew rules

This game style is designed for meta gaming. Your characters will probably know about D&D and the rules for it, and probably know something about most of the monsters that you will face. This is a feature of the LitRPG style. Healing potions can be drank as a bonus action.

Safety

How -Jasen creates a safe table

Before we play we will create a lines and veils document. I will do this individually with each player so that if they have a line or veil they don't want others to know about, it can be kept secret. My line starts the document: Nothing with children! If you identify a known trigger that comes up during the game that you didn't remember (or know was a line) before the game, I expect X cards to come up. I will do my best to talk with everyone after the game to make sure there is no bleed over into the real world.
