About the adventure

On the border of two kingdoms, a minor lighteyed house is trying to hold its place in a world that's coming apart. You play its guards, scribes and sworn servants on the eve of a political marriage that should secure your future; until everything goes wrong, and your home falls. In the chaos you escape with only a spanreed, a handful of spheres and the memory of a broken house... plus one last thread of hope: the missing younger sister, the only surviving heir. The campaign follows you as you travel towards Vedenar, take on quiet jobs for dangerous patrons, dig into who engineered the fall of your house, and follow rumours and records in a long, twisting hunt across Roshar to find her before anyone else does. Ashes of a Broken House is a spy thriller campaign written for fans of the Stormlight Archive. Players should already know the setting; ideally you've read at least the first two books and some of the third. There will be full spoilers for the first two! This is not a setting-intro game; it's meant for players who are excited to play inside Roshar's politics and secret wars rather than have them explained from scratch. This will be done as a play by post campaign, using Discord for communication and Foundry for rolls, maps and character sheets. This is a roleplay-forward, heavy intrigue game: expect coded spanreed exchanges, tense conversations over wine, careful planning before a job, and the scramble when things go sideways. Combat absolutely happens, but it's there when it matters - often as the consequences of your choices or your rolls - and every character will get their chance to shine. Since this is PbP, expectations are important: I am generally pretty active and will post at least once a day (more than likely multiple times a day if required) and I'm looking for players that can reliably do 1-2 posts per weekday, or at least once every two days. More during active scenes would be great, such as combat, and slower stretches are fine as long as it's communicated. I endeavour not to leave anyone behind! If you love Stormlight, enjoy writing characters whose oaths don't always match their actions and want to do the kind of quiet jobs that never make it into the epigraphs, this campaign is for you.

About me

Hi everyone! My name is Gabrielle, and I've been playing ttrpgs for a few years now, GMing for the last few months. My main format is Play by Post, as I've found it's a great way to play and flesh out characters and backstories. I've been doing text roleplays since I was a teenager, and have always highly enjoyed them! I've taken that experience in writing and brought it to a more structured setting, and it's been going well. I currently only GM for the Cosmere RPG system, as I'm a huge Cosmere nerd. I believe that both the players and the GM need to be having fun for a game to flow well. I love creating collaborative stories, and will endeavor to incorporate your character's backstory in the game. I'm a stickler for canon and the rules - but that doesn't mean I won't allow players their cool moments! I try my best to give every player the attention they deserve. I welcome all players, if you have any questions or concerns please message me and we will work together to find a resolution c:

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be made prior to campaign start, using standard Handbook rules. The only requirement is that they have at least Veden culture, and their backstories must include them being hired/working for the minor house. They will be starting at level 1, and singers are welcome!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a Discord account and access to a web browser that can run Foundry. I will provide access to the Handbook and assist in character creation.

What Danger (Gabrielle) brings to the table

I will provide a rich, narrative experience with in depth world knowledge and unique challenges. Good roleplay and ideas will be rewarded with advantages and lowered DC! I tend to stick to RAW, but will break it for ROC if the moment calls for it c:

Safety

How Danger (Gabrielle) creates a safe table

I will send out a google form to each player before the campaign, with questions on Lines and Veils. These will go into a google doc and pinned to a Discord channel for everyone to view. If there are any issues between players, I will have a private channel set up so that everyone can contact me with no issue, and I have no problem settling conflict.
