About the adventure

Welcome to a modded version of Ghosts of Saltmarsh, made to fit my homebrew setting, the world named Scavena. In the port town of Shiloden, two factions stand to take control of the economic potential of the region, both unaware of a hidden darkness lurking in wait along the Silver Coast. Creatures from the deep seek to fight back against what they view as an invading force, the restless dead still yearn for their chance to live, and the cults of the Devil Hierophants slowly fix their gaze upon new footholds of power. As Shiloden grows, so too do these evils with it, and heroes must rise from among the people to keep the sea lanes safe for all.

About me

My name is Chelsy, and I found myself exploring fantasy, kingdoms, and fictional families with trees that branch wide and gnarly since I was a child. I love history, and studying the politics that spread from way back when to right here right now, so you'll be sure to find butterfly effects of your back stories and in-campaign choices. Born and raised in Yorkshire, my passion for telling stories and playing games is matched only by my joy at seeing my players take part in the tapestry I started. I have Game Mastered for strangers and treasured friends, veterans of TTRPGs and people who are brand new to our wild little world. My core influences include: - Legend of Zelda (specifically Twilight Princess) - The Elder Scrolls (All of it) - Dragon Age (Origins & 2, my loves) - Shakespeare (his comedies over his tragedies, but my english education shall not go to waste) - The Sims (I said what I said) - Heroes of Might and Magic (the world of Ashan was my start into fantasy)

Character creation

Creating your character

I expect characters to be ready by Session 1, but I'm more than happy to run a Session .5 to help people who are struggling, if needed. Stats are 4d6 minus lowest, that's just been my standard throughout my D&D career. Starting level is 1-3, variance based on what the table as a whole is comfortable with. Characters can be made on whatever players feel comfortable using, as long as I can pull up their sheets when I need to, mostly to double check everyone's leveled up correctly. I like to think I'm pretty flexible and can work with any official material players choose, at least for mechanics. I may have some gripes for personal lore, due to the nature of my homebrew setting, but I am always willing to talk things through. I also have a vetting process for Homebrew races and classes in my games, so if a player wants to use anything like that, I must know and read it myself ahead of time. It helps me integrate you better into the world as well as know different limitations and strengths to play to.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

There is a discord server for everyone to join, that's where the game will be played and discussions can be had. My husband is also present in there just to help me make sure things run smoothly. There will be a roll20 made ready closer to when the game will actually start.

What Chelsy brings to the table

I attempt character voices mostly through inflections, slight accents, different tones and speeds; I'm no voice actor but I do at least try to make characters sound different. My husband is my usual DJ, I personally find including music on my own too distracting but I can work with it if players prefer. My desire to stick to character driven choices extends to combat, so tactics are a bit... chaotic, as a result. I generally find myself sticking to Rules as Written, but I'd be hard pressed to think of times where I've turned down Rule of Cool.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action, if you crit at my table you add full dice damage to the roll, you can still talk at 0HP unless actually unconcious, it's harder to bring you back from death if attempted but the player who died always has final say on whether they actually return to the land of the living.

Safety

How Chelsy creates a safe table

I will have a downloadable content checklist ready for players to fill in which is part of the discussion at session 0 My session 0s are part safety, part expecations, part helping with character creation via loredumping and worldbuilding. I've developed a habbit of checking in after session, as well as warning players when I think a session is going to be intense. There will be a chat in the discord dedicated to X, N, & O cards and a place for us to remember what the group's lines and veils are.
