About me

Heya, my name’s Azu, a aspiring real-world bard and storyteller, fueled by creativity and inspiration. I have the constant urge to inspire other people, to laugh, cry and tell stories together. Looking into the players’ sparkling eyes during a session, who then excel and (positively) lose themselves in the narrative, this is the most rewarding part to me. These positive emotions keep me going. Even though I didnt realize it yet, my ttrpg life started more than 20 years ago when I joined the after school theater class where I fell in love with acting and improvisation. A few more years needed to pass before I started playing the first ttrpg in university. At this point in my life, I didnt connect the dots yet how my love for improv and this hobby could be easily combined (naive young me just didnt know better). Even more years of incubation were needed when covid hit and my live would change forever (in a very good way) - I finally started GM-ing. I became the main GM for my online group of friends who were split throughout the world but we had the internet to connect us. We played different systems together like DnD, Cyberpunk Red, Honey Heist, etc. It was a glorious start - the addiction for collaborative storytelling started to take root. Nowadays, Im trying to get more experience with different ttrpg systems - to see what other ways of gamified storytelling are out there and borrow every cool mechanic that can enhance the way I weave a tale.

Character creation

Creating your character

For this One-Shot adventure I will provide previously created 1st level characters. Before the session, via discord, the players will see the options and decide which character they would like to play. It is also possible to bring your own 1st level character after prior consultation with me. By this, I can ensure that there are no extreme cases that might not fit the group or the overall tone.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

🎓Learning the basics of the Daggerheart system is helpful but not strictly necessary. Complete beginners are equally welcome as experienced players as I will provide guidance along the way in any case. 🎤+ 📷 Please make sure you have access to Discord (Account is free) and a reliable and working microphone and webcam.

What Azu the Bard brings to the table

You can expect an immersive experience, with character voices, ambient music and sounds and a roleplay-focussed theater-of-the-mind scenario. Your ideas, experiences and inspiration matter as I will use them to change the word and the adventure around them. This creates a unique experience in which your characters can shine! I am but a humble servant to and the biggest fan of your characters. I cannot wait and see how you shape this world and the story!

Homebrew rules

Lets make Tag Team moves more fun! When initiating a Tag Team move, the participating players can choose how to distribute the 3 Hope necessary to start it between them. Additionally, there are no restrictions on how often Tag Team moves can be performed.

Safety

How Azu the Bard creates a safe table

You can expect me to use the following safety tools: I will send out a Lines and Veils document prior to the session. I will reference this list while planning to make sure everyone's concerns are respected. Feel free to update your Lines and Veils anytime! In addition, there is the Open Door policy during sessions. Take a break anytime, without questions or judgement and come back when you feel like it. Also, during the session, you will be able to use a pre-determined command (X card system) to stop the scene. You can then voice your concern of a particular game element and I will revert the scene back prior to that incident and continue without it. After each session, you will have the chance to raise any concern that might have arisen during the session. An open communication channel to me will always be available to you.
