About the adventure

She just wanted to go to the library. Specifically, the library in Waterdeep to translate the charcoal rubbings she found on the last dig. The safest way to get there (that wasn't magic) was to travel with a caravan. She paid a simple fee to the caravan leader and traveled along with merchants and mercenaries along the coast. The worst was supposed to be wolves or bandits, but that is what the mercenaries were for. Certainly no issues while in the small towns along the way. They hadn't even been in the town an hour. She heard the screams in a distance from her room in the tavern. The first were dismissed as children playing. Until the voices got closer...and louder... It was then she looked out the window, watching as individuals with robes and drakes were running in the streets behind villagers. The sight was enough to bring a bout of fear. But nothing compared to the dread of the shadow that covered the streets suddenly. A being of large wings and scales and fire. --- The Tyranny of dragons will take your characters along the sword coast to deal with the Dragon Cult that looks to summon their dark goddess Tiamat to the Material Plane. One of the first adventures for 5e, its fairly accessible for learning how to play, allowing characters to go through dungeons, nature, and cities. Also, the ability to fight several different kinds of dragons, including Tiamat herself. Make allies, make enemies, and plan on how to deal with a cult that wants to bring one of the most evil goddesses to the land.

About me

Dungeon and Dragons and TTRPGs have been a staple of my life since I was in the single digits. I've had experience in all sorts of systems, from good old DnD to Shadow Run to Dread. If its a game system, chances are I've played it at least once, but of course I have the systems I'm most familiar with. Fantasy, sci fi, something more realistic, and even the occasional horror, I hope to run a variety of games for people. I love creativity and I love the great stories that come out of several people's ideas mixing together. Rules and modules are guidelines, but what matters is everyone is having fun. While I prefer games that are more roleplay heavy, combats and puzzles are certainly fun as well.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a free session zero that covers character creation in roll20. People are allowed to make their character in advanced if they so choose. We will be starting at level 1, and roll three sets for stats and choose the best set for the character you want. (If your luck is simply The Worst, or its easier, point buy is acceptable.)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure you have a mic (camera not required), a Discord account, and a roll20 account. Please also join this Discord: https://discord.gg/Dv657NF2Uk

What Sabre G brings to the table

I will be providing players with access to my books in roll20 and how to edit in from books that are not in the roll20 compendium. I bring my experience and expertise with Dungeons and Dragons. If there is something you want to make of your character and not sure how to achieve it, I'm fairly good at figuring out how to do it. I have music for my games and voices will be attempted, but not guaranteed. My DM style is not super crunchy. While I try to make combat fun and engaging, but I'm not looking to make it super deadly. Rule of Cool is usually better than RAW. If someone can think of a clever idea to get out of combat and the rolls favor you, I'm willing to go along with it. I try to allow a lot of freedom with the story and the more backstory you give me, the more I try to figure out how to incorporate it. And if you don't really know how to do an indepth backstory, I'm more than happy to help you figure out the story you want to tell with your character in the present.

Homebrew rules

I have a list of homebrew rules on the Discord, but there's nothing major beyond what I call triage, an option when your character faces death. Let's be fair, you're paying me to play a game, and it would suck if your character dies one hour into a session and there's no revivify. Triage means the party goes on a long rest to stabilize your critical character and they will be revived, though with some semi-permanent effect that needs a side quest to fix it. Never the major thing for the character, we're not taking an ranger's hand, but we may make him deaf in one ear so hearing perception has disadvantage.

How Sabre G creates a safe table

There is a consent form and a session zero. Players are also always free to come talk to me if they're having a problem. If players join after session zero, I make sure to they still do the consent form and ask about anything that might make them uncomfortable.
