About the adventure
Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind's howling increases as she turns her gaze down toward the village of Barovia. Far below, a party of adventurers has just entered her domain, the mists receding only when it is her will. Little do they know of the horrors and trials they will face, for fate has made them it's newest playthings. Will these new players rise to the challenges before them and bring light back to the land? Or will they descend into darkness and temptation, and become monsters themselves? A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited. What is different about this campaign? We will be using a personalized combination of the original adventure, Reloaded and She is the Ancient for this campaign. I will also be using both Reloaded's Motivation story hooks along with your own backstories and ideas relevant to the campaign. What this will provide is a Curse of Strahd that brings all of the horror, hard choices and gothic ambiance without some of the dated ideas that plague it's footsteps...

About me
Hello! I mostly go by Yorick (he/him) I live in Scotland with my wife, 2 kids and 2 cats. I have been DMing on Roll20 for 5 years now and very quickly discovered a passion for it. My claim to notoriety is an arts degree in creative writing, specializing in skits, scripts and character work which I’ve leveraged to create personal and compelling stories for my players. My hope is to do the same for you. I've lived around the edges of TTRPGs my entire life, but never saw an opportunity to break in. Now I feel like a dog that has discovered fetch for the first time and have to make up or a lot of lost time with all the enthusiasm and derp you can imagine.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
For character creation we begin at level 2. You can use Standard Array or Point Buy (27). Through Compendium sharing Roll20 I'll be sharing access to the 2024 Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide, Tasha's Cauldron, Monsters of The Multiverse, most all of the official published source books and a growing collection of 3rd party materials, so feel free to use any of the options there. Compendium sharing will be enabled on Roll20. If you want to use anything beyond these sources, published or not, let me know and I’ll be happy to work something out with you.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Roll20 for the VTT and Discord for Voice Chat. Character creation can be worked out during Session 0 or earlier if preferred. Backstories should be provided and can be as minimal or verbose as you like.
What Yorick brings to the table
As a former art student I love to bring both drama and comedy to my games, primarily through interactions with NPCs. I will be working to make this a connected and complete campaign through whatever the book provides, homebrew and from the backstories you provide. Before, during and after our Session 0, I will be working to make this campaign unique to you and your characters. I will encourage some collaboration, offering unique bonds, goals and secrets for your characters.
Homebrew rules
I utilize a handful of minor homebrew rules in my games that encourage more tactical play including addendums to cover, flanking and death saving throws. My major homebrow is my inspiration system which interacts with Rule of Cool, Downtime and dice rolls.

How Yorick creates a safe table
===Player Expectations=== Respect the time and agency of all players. So punctuality and politeness, please. Any out of character discrimination will not be tolerated. Preferably no evil characters please, unless you can convince me and the other players otherwise! Player versus player actions will not be allowed unless both players state enthusiastic consent. We will be using a 3-card system as an in-game safety tool as well as keeping a close ear on the table for any issues to employ the Luxton technique where needed.
