About the adventure

Everyone will most likly start in Athens, the most cosmopolitan city of ancient greece. You can come from any place and visit the city for more than a toushand reason. While you try to make a living and a new life with new people, the gods will make their conflict known and you will decide if you want to do something about it, or if the changes brought by their conflit suits you just fine. The world of Hellade is heavly inspired by Greek mythology, the history of ancient greece and the feud between its city-states. In Greece, landscape are breathtaking, the harvests are plentiful and merchandise are cheap, but that is without the gods that mingle into mortal relations. While a divine conflit is at place, you will have to chose between calming them or taking advantage of their dispute, but always by respecting your own divinity's tennants, otherwise they will forget you. The growing rivalry between the Delian League (led by Athens) and the Peloponnesian League (led by Sparta) leaves no doubt that a war as big as the one against the Persian empire will start soon enough.

Character creation

Creating your character

When you create your character and its story, taken into account the following: it can be of any species, age or place, but need a reason to come to Athens or Sparta, is it to visit the biggest temple dedicated to a divinity, to find work, see the world or flee the war from your home? You have to chose a species from among the following list. Most of them use a modified ruleset to better fit the Ancient Greece setting. Communes • Human • Elf • Dwarf Peu communes • Centaur • Satyr • Nymph Rares • Minotaur • Talos (warforged) • Cyclopeen Ancestry Your ancestry tel if you have divine blood running in your veins, like Achillies the half-god or Odysseus the man. If you have an olympian father or mother, one of them is not the one you think it is. Your divine parent will be determined secretly by the DM (with the player input) and will be discovered in game at a later time. -Olympian. You get two +2 to any different stats of your liking, this replace the Ability Score Increase from your specie. When you roll for your abilities, roll 5d6 and drop the two lowest. - Mortal. You roll 4d6 and drop the lowest, but your piety for all gods is raised by 2. Background Every background in the Player Handbook is valid. The Athlete background from Mythic odyssey of Theros is also valid. There is always the possibility to create a custom one with my input. Region You will also need to determine where your character is from, as this will affect how certain character see you. Classes You can chose any of the following classes. Ranges and monk have been changed to be more versatile and Swashbuckler and Spellblade are homebrew classes made by myself. • Ranger • Artificer • Barbarian • Bard • Swashbuckler • Cleric • Druid • Sorcerer • Fighter • Wizard • Monk • Warlock • Paladin • Rogue • Spellblade Devotion and piety When you create your character you have to decide if it worship one of the following divinity. If you (the player or the character) dont know yet, there will always be a way to chose or change the god you are worshiping in game! • Aphrodite • Apollo • Ares • Artemis • Demeter • Dionysos • Hades • Hecate • Helios • Hephaestus • Hermes • Persephone • Poseidon • Themis • Zeus

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use Roll20 to play the game (I have maps, monster and NPC token, etc.) so you must have an account. If you dont already have one and dont know how to make one, we can take a moment during the session 0 to do so. Even if I love Roll20, I find that using discord for our voice is way better. There will be a dedicated discord server for our communication. I will have my webcam, but I dont require everyone to have it. If we do see you cool! I willl most likely look at you while anwsering a question you asked an NPC, otherwise, dont worry, I will stare at your profile icon, it dosent bother me.

What Vincent brings to the table

I try to mix combat and roleplay at equal parts and creative thinking is rewarded! I try to stay by the rules, but let the rule of cool take over by moment in intense situation so that rules dont impeach play but enchance it.

Homebrew rules

This game uses a lot of homebrew to better fit the world. Here are some minor changes: -Bonus action healing potion -Secret death save -You can see how much other creatures are hurt. (Full health, above 50%, above 25%, under 25%) For major changes, I use inspiration to reroll any D20 your character use and regain it when you get a Nat 1. Survival is harder. Rations goes bad after 3, 5, or 90 days depending on the type, you'll need a special hunting, gathering or fishing kit to find food in nature. Some classes start with and have masteries in certain kit (Ranger are proficient in the hunter kit and start with one). Long rests give less health and no hit dice nor does it reduce exaushtion level, making long journey way more dangerous. You will need a Shelter rest (a long rest in a safe place, with warmth, confort and food) to regain hit dice and reduce exaushtion. You can get and inflict lingering injuries resulting in the loss of a hand, an eye or an entire leg! Finaly there are advance fighting syle, basicly fighting style that grow stronger with the level of the character, acting as a mini second subclass for martial character.

How Vincent creates a safe table

In session 0, all will fill a sheet containing a lot of topics that you can mark as line or veil. They will be anonymous and I will adapt my GMing to your answers. At any time, you can message me anytime using the X, N & O's system to show that you are uncomfortable with content diplayed, even if you marked it as ok beforehand.
