About me

I have enjoyed running play by post, in person and online rpgs in different systems, including Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition, Pathfinder 1e, Pathfinder 1e Spheres of Power, and Fate Accelerated. A lot of rpgs can expand into other areas, and I am happy to see players becoming friends with each other, doing artwork and expressing themselves through other creative outlets, and in some cases going on to be DMs themselves. The Daggerheart system looks incredibly enticing, so I am looking into running games of that.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation ideas will be discussed in session zero. New players are welcome, and things can be explained as we go along, if needed. For people who prefer, there will be premade characters available to choose from. For those who would like to make their own characters, 27 point buy, or use the stat array 15 14 13 12 10 8, then adjust for racial modifiers as usual. Level 1 characters. Default to 2024 rules, but if there are things from 2014 that you would like to use, let me know.

The current party

The group is currently level 5, and are in the last chapter of the adventure. I am in New Zealand (NZT timezone). 5 April 2026 at 3am New Zealand clocks go back 1 hour. 27 September 2026 at 2am New Zealand clocks go forward 1 hour. So depending on your time zone, the relative time of the game may change by up to 2 hours. The time you see on Startplaying should be correct for your local time, I believe it automatically converts it.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Discord account and a Roll20 account will be required.

What Raymond brings to the table

I have had years of experience in running and playing various roleplaying games, and used to run Introduction to D&D sessions at the board games cafe that I worked at, while that business was still running.

Homebrew rules

Rolling a natural 1 on a ranged attack may have a chance of hitting something else in the same line. Rule of cool may apply, might come down to a skill check to determine success.

Safety

How Raymond creates a safe table

The initial session, referred to as session zero, will be used to discuss safety tools and the general tone of the game. Anyone can take a break at any time, just let people know that is what you are doing. Session zero will be used to define what people are comfortable with and can expect for this game.
