About the adventure

Step deeper into the Sablewood—where the roots drink secrets and the air hums with corrupted magic. You’ve delivered the keystone to the Whitefire Arcanist, but your path is far from over. She warns of shadows spreading through the forest, of beasts twisted by something older than memory, and of duties yet undone. When her ritual is complete, someone must return the stone to King Emeris… but between Hush and the throne lies danger, deception, and the unknown. Each session is a self-contained adventure, but together they weave into a larger tale. Return for another night in the Sablewood and you’ll uncover new threats, shifting alliances, and a story that grows with every choice you make. Step away for a time, and you can still drop back in to face the forest’s perils without being lost. You may carry forward one of the pre-made heroes of the first Sablewood adventure, scarred and tested by what came before—or you can forge a new traveler to brave the corrupted woods. Either way, you’ll find tense battles, mysteries that beg unraveling, and the haunting beauty of a land where forgotten gods still stir. The opening chapter of this saga was the official Daggerheart Quickstart adventure from Darrington Press. From here onward, we venture into uncharted territory—original one-shots of my own design, built upon the same world and tone, continuing the story where the Quickstart left off.

About me

🇬🇧 English Hello! I’m Ed Orta (Edoardo, full name), a software developer by day and a Game Master/TTRPG enthusiast by night. I’m currently running two campaigns: a D&D 5e game set in a homebrew world inspired by Classical Greece and Theros, and a high fantasy adventure with the Daggerheart system. Over the years I’ve also run many one-shots in a wide range of settings—historical, steampunk, Irish folklore, high fantasy, Lord of the Rings-inspired, and more. I love taking inspiration from films and books to add unexpected twists, and you might even discover some fun easter eggs hidden in my sessions! 🇮🇹 Italiano Ciao!

Character creation

Creating your character

You don’t need to create a character for this adventure. We'll use a set of pre-made characters, so you can jump straight into the story and roleplay from the start. One character, Marlowe Fairwind, is central to the story and must always be included. Available Characters: Marlowe Fairwind, Loreborne Elf Sorcerer – Calm until provoked, personal mage to King Emeris, and the one who brings the party together. Barnacle, Underborne Ribbet Rogue – Fearless in danger, but terrified of water. Masters getting in and out of trouble. Garrick Reed, Highborne Human Warrior – Approaches conflict with a “kill ‘em with kindness” attitude. Khari Nix, Ridgeborne Giant Guardian – Loyal, no-nonsense, and practically born to wield an axe. Varian Soto, Wildborne Katari Ranger – Shoots first, asks questions later; a bow-focused problem solver.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I’ll provide the character sheet or you can download from the quickstart adventure. Since characters are pre-made, there’s no need to create your own. We’ll play through Discord, so you’ll need a free account and access to voice channels. I’ll share my screen to show maps and images for ambiance, so no additional programs are required. Take a moment to review your character’s abilities, spells, and equipment, and think about how you want to roleplay them. Optional: keep notes or track items and initiative. With this, you’ll be ready to dive straight into the adventure.

What Ed Orta brings to the table

In my games, you can expect a mix of roleplay, tactical combat, and immersive storytelling. I’ll provide maps and visual aids to help bring the world to life. Combat is tactical, but I embrace the Rule of Cool, so if you come up with a clever or cinematic idea, I’ll work with you to make it exciting, while still respecting the Rules as Written when it matters. I encourage players to fully inhabit their characters, and I use character voices and descriptive flair to make interactions more engaging. You can expect a balanced mix of strategy and story, where teamwork, creative thinking, and roleplay are just as important as careful combat planning.
