About the adventure
Shades of Blood is "the vampire AP" for Pathfinder Second Edition. You'll square off against vampires, a blood cult, werebats, and far stranger threats in the bowels of a supernatural prison that has sat dormant since the calamity of Earthfall 10,000 years ago! Come prepared to explore a sprawling dungeon complex that hasn't seen the light of day in millennia. This campaign begins at level 1 and is very beginner-friendly! Whether you're a Pathfinder 2e veteran or just checking out the game, this campaign is a great entry point into the system and the world of Golarion. The Adventure Path is billed as a megadungeon, but there's plenty of time before you get to the dungeon to explore your surroundings and take care of things. And you'll have ample opportunities to roleplay within the dungeon itself! This is by no means an all-combat dungeon brawler. Given the nature of some of the enemies this AP features, you'll find some gothic horror elements within. This is not a horror campaign, but there will be some spookiness to it. Grab your garlic and sharpen your stakes, adventurers!

About me
I've been playing RPGs for 20+ years, the vast majority of that behind the GM screen. Fantasy is my bread and butter, with a focus on Pathfinder 2e. I like both long-running campaigns and shorter, more focused roleplaying experiences, and I have taught a lot of folks how to play. I'm a fan of bringing new people into the hobby just as much as I enjoy playing with veterans who've been slinging dice for a while.

Creating your character
We will create characters together during Session 0. You're strongly encouraged to look at the Player's Guide for Shades of Blood and you'll need to look at the Player Options document I've created, too. In order to facilitate a focused story, I've limited some options to certain ancestries and archetypes (it's still a pretty permissive list, don't worry). Please come to Session 0 with some idea of what you might want to play, but be flexible with your concept! You might find it needs to alter a bit to best mesh with your party members!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
If you don't already have accounts for The Forge or Discord, you will need those. You'll be provided with links to join both the game and my server when you sign up for the campaign! Other than that, I encourage you to check out the Player's Guide for Shades of Blood (it's free) as it'll have information about what players can expect going into the Adventure Path.
What Zach brings to the table
I provide a Discord server for everyone to hang out in. Share memes, discuss the campaign, make folks aware if we're going to need to delay or miss a session, and just generally vibing together. I also provide access to The Forge during sessions and make use of the official Foundry module for the Adventure Path, which includes premium artwork, custom sounds, and animated effects. I also use a few premium modules within Foundry to amplify the gaming experience, including animations for spells and conditions and music! I am a fan of tactical combat, but I'm not looking to be a ttrpg chess master. I will do my best to push my players' combat capabilities while also acting believably for whatever foe you are facing. I mostly run Rules as Written, but embrace the Rule of Cool where it fits. I try to encourage my players to try stuff that seems cool, whether there's a strict rule for it or not! I make use of character voices (I'm not a professional actor) and do my utmost to make the world of the campaign come alive through descriptions, memorable NPCs, and a sense of verisimilitude.
Homebrew rules
Using a hero point means you get the higher of the two rolls you make. If you use any hero points to stop dying, you immediately heal 1 hp and regain consciousness.

Safety
How Zach creates a safe table
My players' safety is paramount to me. We will go over our Lines and Veils during our session 0, which will be a living document we can amend as we play. I also utilize breaks, X, N, & O cards (integrated in Foundry), and Stars & Wishes for players to give feedback. I also encourage "open door" play, meaning if you need to step away for a moment (for whatever reason, frankly), you're welcome to. Just let us know you're away. I also always welcome private feedback over Discord if players have something they want to bring to my attention without bringing it up before the whole group.
