About the adventure

The banners of a once-mighty sect lie torn in the dirt. Their halls are silent, their disciples either dead or twisted into horrors. But the ruins breathe with something far worse than rebellion or corruption, an ancient power is stirring beneath the earth. You have been summoned by decree of the Heavenly Court to investigate the fall of the Cult of the True Elements and bring an end to the chaos spilling from its remains. Already, the land suffers: beasts are mutating, survivors babble madness, and the air itself trembles with hostile qi. Your path will take you from the skies on your flying swords into battle with chaos-touched beasts, through shattered courtyards where corrupted survivors still cling to life, and into direct combat with elemental monks who have given their bodies to corruption. At the heart of the sect, something vast and terrible waits, a fragment of a being that should never have been unleashed. This is no simple hunt. The seals that bind this evil are failing, and only your strength, your Dao, and your will can force them closed again. To succeed, you must fight not only with sword and spell, but also with cunning, trust, and the resolve to face despair itself. The story of this night will not be forgotten. When the ruins are silent again, either the world will breathe easier… or chaos will consume everything.

About me

Dungeon Master Bio: Momochi Experience: 5 years About Me: Hello, adventurers! I'm Mohamed, but most of my players know me as "Mo". I'm 22 years old and over the past five years, I've had the privilege of guiding countless heroes through tales of danger, mystery, and wonder. My passion lies in blending the rich traditions of Dungeons & Dragons with fresh, innovative narratives, ensuring that every campaign I run offers a unique and memorable experience. Campaigns I've DM'ed: Curse of Strahd: My take on this iconic gothic horror tale is one I'm particularly proud of. I've always aimed to immerse my players in the eerie mists of Barovia, ensuring they feel every ounce of tension and suspense the land has to offer. I have improved on the very flawed module and created an experience that supersedes the original. Odyssey of the Dragonlords: Inspired by the legends of Greek mythology, I've endeavored to make this campaign both a tribute to the classics and a modern-day epic. From battling mythical creatures to navigating the politics of ancient lands, it's been a journey my players and I cherish. The Lost City of Zerzura: This is a tale of my own creation, where adventurers brave the desert's challenges in search of a legendary city of gold. Ancient secrets, cryptic puzzles, and formidable foes await those who dare to seek Zerzura. Whispers in the Feywild: Another personal creation, this campaign invites players into the enchanting yet perilous world of the Feywild. Here, they encounter the unpredictable fey, traverse ever-changing landscapes, and uncover a plot with ramifications for multiple realms. Words from My Players: "Mo's adaptability is something to behold. No matter how wild our decisions, he's always ready with a twist or a subplot that keeps us on our toes." - Alex, Rogue/Thief "Every session with Mo feels like stepping into another world. The depth and detail he brings to every NPC, location, and artifact is truly immersive." - Samira, Druid of the Moon "I've played D&D for years, but Mo's campaigns always have this unique touch. The way he weaves personal character backstories into the main plot is nothing short of genius. I've never felt more connected to a campaign." - Rahul, Paladin of Devotion

Character creation

Creating your character

You are stepping into the role of a legendary cultivator, one of the strongest of your age, summoned by the Heavenly Court to face a corruption too great for ordinary mortals. This is a mini adventure which formally exists as a prologue to the larger main campaign. Character Level Level 10 – You stand at the Nascent Soul stage, one step away from Immortality. Character Creation Guidelines: Subclasses: You may pick any official subclass you desire, with the option of choosing the xianxia inspired homebrew subclasses. Background: Write a short backstory that answers: Why did the Heavenly Court summon you specifically? What legend, reputation, or fear surrounds your name? What is your Dao, and how do you express it in combat? Roleplay Hooks: Be ready to reveal in play: What sets you apart from other cultivators of your generation? What ambition drives you, even against death? What would you risk or sacrifice to stop this corruption? Equipment and Stats: Stats: Point Buy or Standard Array. Heavenly Manuals: Begin with two manuals (martial techniques-homebrew system). Feats: One free feat. Magic Items: Spend 20 points with rarity costs: Common (1) Uncommon (2) Rare (5) Very Rare (12) Other Equipment: Any non-magical gear or armor you desire (yes, even plate mail).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure you have a Discord account. The VTT of choice that I will be using will be FoundryVTT, you only need a way to open a browser to use it.

What Momochi The DM brings to the table

Immersive narration (I do character voices, cinematic combat descriptions, and mythic tone-setting). Custom art and maps for major battles (flying sword combat, storm battles, corrupted sect ruins). Epic tactical encounters tuned for high-level PCs but designed to be fun and cinematic, not grindy. Ambient music and soundscapes to set the tone (storm thunder, chanting monks, sealing ritual drums). A balance of roleplay, combat, and story-driven choices. I lean toward Rule of Cool when it enhances the cinematic flow, but keep core 5e mechanics intact so everyone understands what’s happening.

Homebrew rules

Heavenly Manuals: Unique martial techniques slotted like magic items (mobility, offense, defense). Flying Sword Combat: PCs use flying swords to travel the overworld and if combat starts, they will use them in fights too.
