About the adventure

When the tripartite deity Triune sent out the Signal, sharing knowledge of the Drift and technology that allowed for safe faster-than-light travel, life was irrevocably changed. The disparate systems of the galaxy, each separated by unbridgeable distances, became a community. But the Drift is far from perfect. Travel times vary, and with each activation of a Drift engine, the Drift siphons off a little bit of another plane to add to itself. A secretive sect of Triune's faithful called the Architects recently took it upon themselves to "improve" the Drift. Their efforts were disastrous though, causing the Drift to cease to function. This Drift Crash was only the beginning of a galaxy-wide catastrophe. While the Drift slowly staggered back to functionality, it remained impaired and sometimes faltered altogether. It has been months since the Drift Crisis began; travel times have increased greatly, stranding ships and scrambling communications, storms and other anomalies surge uncontrolled across the Drift, and its native residents grow more aggressive and erratic with each passing day. The Drift Hackers adventure path follows a group of adventurers similarly affected by the Drift Crisis. As their ship limps into Triune's holy city of Alluvion, they find religious schisms and an influx of refugees. But amidst the chaos is an opportunity, to stop the Architects and set the Drift right. This campaign will play from levels 7 to 15, and will feature the following variant rules: - Ancestry Paragon - Free Archetype. Players are encouraged to make use of the classes and feats present in official Starfinder 2e material, but most Pathfinder 2e material will also be available for use with GM approval.

About me

I am experienced game master of 7 years, starting with dungeons and dragons, and then gaining experience with call of cthulhu and pathfinder, my current preferred systems. I love to create and share stories with others, and enjoy working both with players who want to play a game to win, and players who are looking to share a story and get deep into roleplaying.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will occur during Session 0. Characters will be built at level 7, and practically all ancestries, backgrounds and classes from both Pathfinder Second Edition and the Starfinder Second Edition are allowed. I do however strongly encourage that players make use of the options for ancestry, background, and class from the Starfinder system, supplementing with options from Pathfinder. The player's guide, linked below, has useful information for lore-related purposes, but the mechanical benefits have been updated to 2e (these will be available in the Discord server). For any uncommon or rare character choices, I ask that they be run by me first, but most of the time they will be accepted! This adventure path will follow around a group of adventurers arriving in Alluvion which is currently undergoing a crisis, with numerous people needing help. It is asked that players build characters who have an inherent desire to help others (without necessarily expectation of a reward), as that will be a major facet of this story. The following variant rules will also be in play, with a small caveat: Free Archetype; Ancestry Paragon. I ask that players do not take multiclass dedications, and instead look for another archetype that can fit the theme and build of your character! I would prefer that reasons be related to the story of your character, as opposed to taking specific abilities solely to make your character more powerful. https://downloads.paizo.com/DriftHackersPlayersGuide.pdf

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to Discord, internet, and a functioning microphone. Sessions will take place in a discord voice call, and will also utilize the in-server chatbox in Foundry to communicate. Cameras are entirely optional.

What Jeriko brings to the table

I will provide a full discord server for the campaign, as well as a fleshed out gaming experience using the wealth of tools provided by Foundry VTT. A number of additional modules will be used to enhance player experience. I will also be recording sessions for uploading to youtube over the course of the campaign.

Homebrew rules

Full list of homebrew rules is available in the discord. Most important one for character building is a restriction on the Free Archetype variant rule - Multiclass dedications and their respective feats must be taken in class feat slots. Free Archetype is meant more for flavor and fleshing out additional aspects of your character's story. Additionally, while not exactly homebrew, the monster crafting system as presented in Battlezoo will be used in this campaign.

Safety

How Jeriko creates a safe table

All players are welcome at my table, though this campaign assumes that players will have a certain level of experience with the system and rules! Session 0 will go over peoples' lines and veils, and an open dialogue will be kept throughout gameplay. My goal is to ensure that players always feel comfortable in my games, and know that they can come speak with me if they have a problem or something they need to discuss.
