About the adventure

First session half price! Forget the Beginner Box, this is a way more fun introductory adventure for learning Pathfinder 2e! A cleric from a rival village shows up on the outskirts of town with two arrows in his back and strange rusty lesions on his skin. He mutters something about a strange boat, and trouble in his temple before he dies. Something sinister is afoot in Rusthenge, and it falls to a brand new band of adventurers to learn the truth of the ancient evil that stirs deep within its long-abandoned halls! * A standalone adventure for four 1st-level characters. A shorter experience, spanning levels 1-4. * Focuses on exploring ancient ruins and uncovering an ancient evil. * Includes new items, character backgrounds, and monsters tied to the region's history. * A cool little mystery and dungeon crawl. * Suitable for beginners and more advanced players!

About me

I've been GMing TTRPGs on-and-off since grade school. My early D&D obsession gave me a love of reading, drawing, and dark, weird, underground spaces. I recently started Scrying Skull creative studio with a friend. We're self-publishing adventures, doing art and design for other game creators, and running games. Check us out at www.scryingskull.com. I play Rules as Written, but I fully encourage creative ideas. I promise to do everything I can to keep you engaged and on your toes!

Character creation

Creating your character

Players can either create their own characters (I can import your builds from pathbuilder2e.com), or you can use the premade iconics that come with the system. We'll coordinate to have a fairly well-balanced party. First come, first choice! I only use post-remaster books, so please limit your options to those. I expect you to know or be willing to learn how to run and level up your character.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a mic with good sound, and a nice quiet place to play from where you won't be distracted or distract the other players. We'll have a little interview before the first session so that we can get to know each other a bit, make sure the sound is OK, let me know if you have any special requests, etc. I run Foundry on the Forge, so when you get the link to the VTT, you'll need to make a free account there. This is a great adventure to learn to play Pathfinder 2e with, but you will need to read up on creating and or leveling up your character. There are lots of free and legal resources online, and I'm happy to help out!

What Jesse the GM brings to the table

I have the official Paizo Rusthenge module for Foundry VTT. It's got lovely maps, tokens, and music. I have Foundry VTT nicely modded for smooth and convenient play. I have audio (and video if wanted) running through Foundry, so you won't need to tab between multiple windows. The group will have their own Discord channel where you can plot and scheme, and I will provide notes when needed. I act out NPCs to the best of my ability, and will keep track of your relationships with NPCs. Monsters will react and adapt to your presence and actions. I play Rules as Written, but since Pathfinder has rules for almost anything, you pretty much get Rule of Cool, too.

Safety

How Jesse the GM creates a safe table

Well have a Session 0 to get to know each other and each other's characters. We can decide how gory we want the fights to be here, and any other expectations people have. I'm pretty laid back. I can adjust the game for beginners to experienced players. We'll take a 10 minute break around the halfway mark, for washrooms, snacks, etc. We will do Stars and Wishes after the session to say what we liked and what we would like to see in the future.
