About the adventure
Beginner friendly! The first session will consist of me helping you create your characters, explaining the rules of Wanderhome and the lore, and discussing the lore of Gloamglow specifically, and how it should fit into the larger world. It will also be free, so if anyone decides that this campaign isn't a good fit, or that I'm not a good fit as a Wanderhome Guide, they can leave without issue. As Wanderhome parties are flexible, we would also be able to continue the game without problem. Gloamglow is an enchanted forest that's stuck right at the perfect golden moment of a twilight sunset, casting purples and golds through the entire forest. The members who live there are unable to change or move on, and the forest responds in kind, stuck in an eternal cycle. It's up to you to decide what you'll do about this, who'll you'll you save, who you won't, and if you agree with the denizens of the woods and their beliefs on death and change. The closest comparison vibes-wise would be Over The Garden Wall, and I've made a playlist for those curious: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3Kt5MqxjgS8i7kpWJNVOlu?si=5AiO2lx9Q_mbEd2_FJNA-g The campaign will be very roleplay heavy, go through a full year of Wanderhome's five seasons, and feature themes of death, rebirth, rot/decay, and life cycles. For those unaware, Wanderhome is a pastoral and often cozy roleplaying game, with a heavy focus on the roleplay over difficult to track or learn mechanics. Character creation is extremely simple and can be done in around ~20-30 minutes per person. It takes place in a world after a great catastrophe, in the midst of recovery. All the characters are animal creatures, similar to RedWall, if you're familiar with the book series, and they keep insects as their pets and livestock. Don't worry about buying your own copy if you don't have one, I can provide it. Supplies are very simple, all you need is the rulebook I'll provide, and somewhere to write your character sheet and notes onto!

About me
Hi! My name is Beta, I'm a transgender man, and I've been a Dungeon Master for about 8 years! It's one of my biggest passions, and I love running games and telling stories! I'm also a professional writer and artist, so i definitely lean more into the roleplaying side of TTRPGs! As stated, I have a lot of experience DMing, and I especially have a long history of DMing games with lots of players or otherwise big parties, alongside longterming DMing for multiple games. My longest running group was 7 years, with 6 players in the party. I am also experienced with very small groups as well, running games for groups as small as 2, or even 1. I typically run my games on Discord; however I can use both DND Beyond and Roll20 if that's what's preferred.

Creating your character
During the first session, Ill be walking everyone through the process of creating characters! Wanderhome doesn't have any heavily mechanic focused rules, and there are no leveling up systems beyond picking up one more trait every 1-2 sessions. If you have any Wanderhome content of your own you'd like to bring to the table that I don't have, or want to bend the rules a little, feel free! Characters are mainly made in Wanderhome through something called a Playbook, which tells you what you're capable of and a little about who you are. For example, one of the Playbooks is The Guardian, where you play someone taking care of a young child.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I'll be using Discord as our primary game space, so you'll need an account for that, and to join the server I send you. Other than that, I'd like it if you took a cursory look through the Playbook to see if any sound interesting to you, but if you don't have time, no worries!
What Beta brings to the table
I am very role-play focused and fully embrace the rule of cool. If something would be interesting or emotionally impactful, then I'd love to do it even if it's not strictly by-the-rules! I'd ask all my players extend the same courtesy, and do not rules lawyers any other players. I will be providing rich world description, and hand drawn art of the world and characters when I can, alongside being open to questions about the characters and world any time outside of the game (I LOVE to ramble about my stories!) My mic and headphones aren't good enough to play music in-game and still hear people; however I do often try to provide vibes material before or during sessions for players to feel out what a place or character or culture might be like. This can range from songs to moodboards to snippets of poetry.

Safety
How Beta creates a safe table
I use the X-card and RPG consent checklist safety tools, and am open to using more or different tools if the players would like. I'm also queer and autistic, and am POC, queer, disabled, and neurodivergent friendly (or I try to be, if I, in any way, am an unwelcome space I invite you to tell me and I will adjust my behaviors). For the X-card, I'll be providing PNGs that sent in either private or public will have the exact same function. I'll be walking through the safety checklist in the first session; however players will be sending it to me privately to avoid anyone not marking something out of peer pressure or anxiety.
