About the adventure

⭐ GEN CON SPECIAL EVENT ⭐ I'm thrilled to announce that this one-shot is being run as an official game for FOMO CON, the virtual Gen Con experience this Saturday! As a featured event, please be aware that our session will be live-streamed and recorded to share the convention excitement with a wider audience. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the Gen Con buzz and showcase a fantastic TTRPG adventure. Let's put on a great show! This is a very wacky and zeiny one shot, it's all about having fun with the weird scenarios and testing out some potential characters. This adventure is settled in no particularly important D&D world, no particularly famous D&D city. It's just your average fantasy town in fantasy land. We are gonna have fun in a bizarre adventure and these our characters problem solving capabilities. I prepared some battlemaps and fun combat scenarios I think you will really appreciate and have a ton of fun going through.

About me

Forget random dungeons. My tables are for players who want their choices to have weight, to feel the ripple effects of their actions in a world that feels truly alive. My background in Social Sciences and Public Administration means I build worlds with depth. ⚖️ Real Consequences: Expect intricate political webs and NPCs driven by realistic motivations. Your decisions will have tangible, cascading consequences that permanently alter the world. 🏛️ Systemic Depth: You won't just clear a dungeon; you might destabilize an entire economy or spark a diplomatic crisis. We'll explore how power operates and how history is shaped by the choices of a few. 🌎 An International Storyteller As a Brazilian Game Master, I bring a unique cultural perspective to my storytelling, and a professional approach I've shared with players at events like GenCon's Portuguese track. The narratives we build are infused with a different rhythm and a global flavor. I am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and I foster a diverse, international community at my tables. If you are a player who craves exploration with real stakes and wants to see your character's legacy written into the fabric of a believable world, then your seat is waiting.

Character creation

Creating your character

The most important part of character creation it’s making sure the party feels connected. After creating your character, but before the session starts, each of you will write a shared memory involving at least two other party members. Something from a past adventure that bonds you, big or small. I’ll share some prompts in the chat to help, but I encourage you to come up with something that fits your character naturally. We’re playing D&D 5e (2014 version) using only the core Player’s Handbook, no supplements. Starting level: 4 (so you’ll get your first general feat, but no Extra Attack yet). Point Buy for ability scores. For HP, use the average value — no need to roll. Right before the session starts, I’ll share a curated list of magic items, and each character will be able to choose one from it to start with. You’re more than welcome to bring your character sheet ready, but I’ll reserve the first hour of the session for those who want to build their character at the table, and to collaborate on the party’s shared backstory before we jump into the adventure. Let me know if you have any questions.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To keep everything running smoothly, all players need to have a Discord account and join our game server. It’s where we’ll coordinate, chat, and share important updates. You’ll also need to join the game on Roll20 using the link I’ll provide. If you already have a character idea, feel free to start building it directly on Roll20 or jot it down somewhere. It’ll help speed things up and make gameplay smoother during the session.

What Gabriel Olive brings to the table

🧰 What I Bring to the Table 🏰 Interactive Maps with actual in game mechanics 📢 DM Voice Modulator Some monsters and NPC's will have their own special voice mod — immersive and sometimes unsettling! 🎵 Custom Soundtrack & Ambient Audio Every scene has its mood, with music and background sounds to match. 🔊 Cinematic Sound Effects Big hits, spell blasts, and boss entrances come with audio stingers for extra drama. ⚔️🏹 Tactical Monsters (No Mindless Mobs) Enemies use tactics, retreat, flank, and fight like they want to survive. 🎭 Roleplay-Driven Encounters Not every challenge is solved with a sword. Social encounters are meaningful and impactful.

Homebrew rules

I play mostly by the rules, but that doesn't stop you from trying to do stuff that is not on your class features list. If you want to do something really cool that shouldn't be possible through the rules, I might require you to expend your inspiration to attempt but I probably won't stop you.

Safety

How Gabriel Olive creates a safe table

Since this is a one shot, we won't have access to the more robust safety tools. But don't worry. We are going to use X, N & O, in chat. If you are not familiar, essentially you just type one of these letters in chat to indicate how are you feeling towards what's going on in the game. O means okay 👍, everything is fine. N means Nope 🙂‍↔️, the scene is moving towards something uncomfortable and you would like it to end or change. X means Stop 🛑, the scene is uncomfortable or triggering. If you send an X on chat, we just take a short break and rewrite the scene or skip it entirely.
