About me

Hello, my name is Andrew. I am the DM and showrunner for The Dunderheads over on twitch and youtube. I have been DMing since 2016 and honestly can't get enough of it. I can do anything from a long form campaign with heavy story beats to oneshots where we all play little critters just trying to steal scraps from the dumpster out side of the local tavern.

Had a great time playing with Andrew! He was very patient and helpful as I've only played a couple times. Does a great job of setting the environment. Really fun story and characters. Would enjoy being a player at his table again. #InClydeWeTrust

Had a fantastic time in this dungeon crawl one-shot! The DM created an engaging adventure that kept our group of four adventurers on our toes from start to finish. Andrew has a talent for voice acting - he brought monster's to life with distinct voices that really enhanced the immersion. It made encounters so much more memorable and entertaining. The puzzles were cleverly designed and struck the perfect balance between challenging and solvable. They required actual teamwork and creative thinking, which made solving them feel genuinely rewarding. What really stood out was how accommodating Andrew was with requests outside of the game. They were professional and helpful with any questions or needs we had, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The dungeon itself was well-crafted with good pacing between exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving. Everyone in our group stayed engaged throughout the entire session. Andrew clearly puts effort into their craft and it shows. Would absolutely recommend them to other players looking for a quality gaming experience.

I've played with Andrew for several years now, and he always cares about your character, prepares for sessions more than any other DM I have played with and makes sure everyone at the table is having a good time

Best DM ever, Fun with the voices, Allows funny jokes and actions, and gives us all the freedom of creativity a lot of people look for in a DM! I’ve never had better.

Andrew is the best GM that I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. It is not even a competition and he yet would be the humble person to say that GMing is not supposed to be competitive. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of DnD rules but doesn’t let it bog down his games. If I could be in a campaign of his forever I would do so in a heartbeat. I’ve since moved timezones and I’ve debated waking up at 3 am just to play in his games. He is actually that great. If something so important to you in the story he will hear your feedback and work with you to create an amazing experience. He is endlessly creative with his homebrew world he makes. I’m convinced he spends his days thinking and dreaming in DnD and practicing funny voices. He has access to wonderfully colorful maps and soundscapes and supports other creators in the space. He is the most consistent person I know of and you do not need to worry about cancellations. You can trust that he will create an inclusive environment possible like he did for me as a gender-queer person.

What Andrew Johnson brings to the table

I have been GMing for nearly a decade now. I have a pretty solidified style at this point. Generally I run very new player friendly games and am more than happy to help people that are just learning. If you're not quite sure what the best option is I will help you weigh them out in a way that doesn't take too much time from others. I enjoy players trying creative things within reason of course, and will bend some rules if it makes sense in the moment. I bring with me a few different services to bring the game to life. Hand drawn maps and tokens by Cze and Peku Music and ambiance by Dscryb Foundry VTT for measuring abilities, tracking initiative, rolling dice and more.

Homebrew rules

I use a loose initiative system. This is mainly for the sake of playing online where nonverbal cues for hoping in can get lost. This way we at least know who should be going next. of course If you're not ready there is no pressure we will simply move to the next person and you can hop in where is appropriate.
